Tibor Tolnai (* 23. September 1964 ) is a Hungarian chess - Grand Master and poker players .

Tolnai received the Grand Master's title in 1990 .

Tolnai won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 1st place at the Open in Dortmund (1987), II.-V. Place Naleczów (1987), I. Place Dortmund B (1988), I. Place Dortmund A (1989), I. Place Kecskemét (1990), II. Place Pirc -Memorial Maribor (1993), II-III. Place FS08 GM Budapest (1993), II-III. Place FS03 GM Budapest (1996), I-III. Place FS04 GM Budapest (2000).

Tolnai's Elo rating is 2442 (as of July 2018), and in January 1998 he reached his highest rating of 2560.

National team

With the Hungarian national team, Tolnai took part in the 1990 Chess Olympiad , the 1989 World Team Championship and the 1989 and 1992 European Team Championships (in the second team).

societies

In Hungary, Tolnai belonged almost continuously to the Honvéd Budapest club for many years , with which he also participated five times in the European Club Cup and in 1993 came second. From 2004 to 2006 he played for Láng Vasas Sportkör , and in the 2016/17 season he competed for Lila Futó-Hóbagoly SE . In the Austrian State League A , Tolnai played for SK Fürstenfeld from 1992 to 1996 .

Tolnai is also active as a poker player. In 1996 he won the European Poker Championship in the Seven Card Stud variant in Baden . His tournament prize money amounts to more than 400,000 US dollars , which he is ranked 21 of the most successful Hungarian poker player.

Tolnai is married to the women's grandmaster Mónika Grábics .
