Péter Ács [ ˈpeːtɛr ˈaːtʃ ] (born May 10, 1981 in Eger ) is a Hungarian chess master .

Chess career

Single successes

Ács began his chess career in his youth: in 1992 he won the European Youth Championship U12 in Rimavská Sobota , and in 1995 he finished eighth in the European U14 Championship in Verdun . In 1998 he fulfilled three grandmaster norms and was subsequently awarded the title of grandmaster by FIDE . In 2001 he won the U20 World Junior Championship in Athens . He won tournaments in Budapest in 1998 and 1999, Wattens in 1999 and Hoogeveen in 2002 (ahead of Judit Polgár , Loek van Wely and Alexander Chalifman ).

Team chess

National team

Péter Ács took with the Hungarian national team at the Chess Olympiads in 2002 (when the team reached the second place), and in 2004 , at the World Team Championship in 2001 and at the European Team Championship in 2003 in part.

Club chess

In the Hungarian team championship NB I. Szabó László csoport , Ács plays for ASE Paks . Since 1999, Ács has been playing for the German chess Bundesliga club Schachclub Eppingen (until 2004 in the second, from the 2004/05 season to the 2014/15 season in the first Bundesliga). Ács has been playing in the Austrian Federal Chess League for SK Sparkasse Jenbach since 2009 and became champions with them in 2010 , 2011 , 2013 , 2015 , 2018 and 2020 . In the Polish team championship he played in 2002 and 2003 for the team of SS Polfa Grodzisk Mazowiecki , with whom he also took part in the European Club Cup in 2003 .
