The tendon bakery KG is a medium-sized company in the bakery industry and geography, and one of the largest bakery chains in Germany. The subsidiary Arctis Tiefkühlbackwaren GmbH , which specializes in frozen baked goods for commercial resellers , is located in the immediate vicinity of the large bakery in Ehningen near Stuttgart, from which the branches are supplied .

history

In 1957, the master baker Heinrich tendon became independent and supplied with his wife Ruth, initially without its own retail store, Südmilch -Shops and mom and pop shops with wood oven bread. In 1976 the bakery, which it moved into in 1962, burned down completely, but production could be resumed five months later. In 1982 the first branches were opened in Weil im Schönbuch and Sindelfingen . In 1987 the first computer-controlled baking systems were installed. In 1998 and 2009 the production facilities were expanded to include new buildings. Company founder Heinrich Sehne died on March 22, 2012 at the age of 80. The company is still in family hands today (2019).

Products

The company started with the production of wood-fired bread. Since the ovens are now heated with gas, this was renamed stone oven bread. The product range today includes several hundred products from the bakery and confectionery segment. Many baked goods are delivered as dough pieces to the company's own branches and freshly baked there. Frozen products and dough pieces from Sehne Backwaren KG and other suppliers are now exported worldwide through Arctis Tiefkühlbackwaren GmbH .

Branches

Since 1982 bakeries in the region have been gradually taken over, often businesses that could not find a successor and were about to close down. This resulted in a branch network of over 150 shops within a radius of up to 60 km (as of 2018), which extends to Heilbronn . A sales outlet is located at the production site in Böblinger Strasse in Ehningen.

In a list of the 30 largest baked goods chain stores in Germany published in 2019, Spiegel Online ranked the company in 16th place with 207 branches. The company's brands are tendon baked goods
