history
On January 28, 1919, the insurance salesman Max Helbig founded the association “German People's Welfare Association in Berlin”. Because of the great success of a funeral expense insurance introduced in 1922, the company name (company) was renamed “Volkswohl-Bund Allgemeine Bestattungs- und Versicherungsverein a. G. Berlin ”changed. In 1924 employees worked for the Volkswohl Bund for the first time. This is the step from an ideal association to a commercial enterprise. The first main administrative office outside of Berlin was established in Szczecin . This was followed by seats in Breslau , Königsberg , Magdeburg , Hanover , Dortmund and Frankfurt am Main .
At the end of the Second World War, the Berlin administration building was destroyed. The administration continued to work in a total of three alternative quarters. The Dortmund district office was also destroyed. After setting up an emergency office in Werne , the company moved to Lünen , where the new western zone headquarters was established.
In 1951, the construction of a new administration building at Südwall 37 was completed in Dortmund. The West Zone Headquarters moved from Lünen to Dortmund. In 1953 the name was changed to "People's Welfare Association for Mutual Life".
In 1955, the new administration building was completed in Berlin on Kantstrasse and the corner of Fasanenstrasse. In Dortmund, the headquarters received an extension on Südwall 39.
On July 8, 1969, Volkswohl Bund Sachversicherung AG was founded as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Volkswohl Bund Lebensversicherung a. G. founded. On March 12, 1970, construction began on a main administration building in Dortmund at Südwall 41. The move-in followed in 1973.
The first brokerage agreement with an insurance broker was concluded on May 17, 1985. The reorientation from an insurance company with permanent sales force to a brokerage insurer began. The administration building in Dortmund was replaced by a new office building in the same place between 2007 and 2010.
In 2012, prokundo GmbH took over as a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswohl Bund Lebensversicherung a. G. to operate.
The newly founded Dortmunder Lebensversicherung AG has been part of the group since June 27, 2017.
