For the 2006 World Cup , three large banners were hung on the facade to greet the nations playing in Dortmund .

Due to structural, typological and design deficits, the building was demolished in 2008 and replaced by a new administration building with a comparable volume . The building was blown up on February 17, 2008 at 12:06 pm; the WDR television broadcast live.

In an architectural competition (RAW) in 2006, six architectural offices were asked to submit designs for the future headquarters of the Volkswohlbund in Dortmund, from which nps tchoban voss emerged as the winner. The building was completed in 2011.
