Tim Miller (* 1973 ) is an American jazz musician ( guitar ).

Miller is from Michigan and began playing guitar when he was ten years old under the influence of Eddie Van Halen . From 1991 to 1997 he studied music at the University of North Texas in Dallas. Miller spent 1997 and 1998 in Paris, where he played intensively with drummer Aldo Romano . This led to recordings ( corners ) as well as concert and jazz festival appearances in Europe. Upon his return to the United States, Miller was appointed professor on the faculty of Berklee College of Music. With saxophonist George Garzone as a guest, he recorded his album Sides in 2002 . He also played in a guitar quartet with Mick Goodrick . In 2005 Miller released his first trio recordings under his own name, Trio , which was followed by the albums Trio Vol. 2 and 2017 Trio Vol. 3 . He has performed at concerts and festivals with musicians such as Paul Motian , Randy Brecker , Dweezil Zappa , Mark Turner , Terri Lyne Carrington , Gary Thomas , Gary Husband , George Duke , Chris Cheek and Ben Monder . Together with Mick Goodrick, he wrote the textbook Creative Chordal Harmony for Guitar: Using Generic Modality Compression , which was published by Berklee Press / Hal Leonard in 2012.
