coat of arms

Three elements characterize the Hombrucher (city district) coat of arms: The silver-red chess bar expresses the affiliation to the county of Mark. The oak leaf is reminiscent of the Hombruch domain forest, which had to give way to the emerging industrial suburb. And a half-hidden gear indicates the industrial origins of Harkort. The Hombruch coat of arms was designed by the local researcher and heraldist Karl-Heinz Strothmann. The Hombruch architect Dieter Menzebach then put Strothmann's ideas on paper. The client was the Hombruch Harkort guild.
