Martin Haase
Martin "Maha" Haase (born October 25, 1962 in Dortmund ) is a German Romance studies and linguist who teaches at the University of Bamberg . He's also a podcaster .
Life
Haase graduated from the Helene-Lange-Gymnasium in Dortmund- Renninghausen in 1982 . Until 1988 he studied at the University of Cologne and 1984/85 at the Université de Toulouse II-Le Mirail ( license ès lettres 1985) general linguistics , Romance studies and historical- comparative linguistics (Magister Cologne 1988). He then wrote his doctoral thesis under Hans-Jürgen Sasse on language contact and language change in the Basque Country . The influences of Gascon and French on Basque , with which he received his doctorate in 1991 .
After a stay at the University of Hamburg , Haase became an assistant at the University of Osnabrück in 1992 . In 1997 he completed his habilitation with a thesis entitled Dialect Dynamics in Central Italy . Language change processes in the Umbrian Apennine region . He then held substitute professorships at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg and at the Free and Technical University of Berlin .
In 2001 he was appointed to a professorship at the University of Bremen . In the following year he switched to a chair for Romance linguistics at the University of Bamberg, where he has been teaching ever since.
Club memberships
Haase learned Esperanto as a student . He was involved in the German Esperanto Youth and was its national chairman from 1988 to 1990. He is the head of the German Esperanto Institute .
Martin Haase is a member of the Chaos Computer Club (CCC). From January 18, 2009, Haase was the ERFA representative on the board of the Chaos Computer Club. Since 2014 he has been active in another function on the CCC board. He has given lectures at several CCC congresses , including on the subject of language.
Since 2009, Haase member of the Pirate Party , where he at many successful LiquidFeedback participated -Anträgen and owner is a three-digit number of voting delegations. In the media reporting he was therefore referred to as an influential grassroots pirate.
In addition to his partisan involvement in the liquid feedback system of the Berlin Pirate Party and his commitment to expanding such direct participation opportunities in the Pirate Party, Haase has also been a member of the non-partisan association Liquid Democracy e. V.
Haase is a member of the Digitalcourage association , which deals with digital civil rights such as data protection.

Haase has been writing on various topics in his own blog since 2005.
Since 2010 he has been running the blog neusprech.org with journalist Kai Biermann , which won the Grimme Online Award in the category of knowledge and education in 2011 . In 2012, the authors wrote the book Sprachlügen. Unwords and Newspeak from "Atomruine" to "Zeitnah" published by S. Fischer Verlag .
On the subjects of Wikipedia , rhetoric and languages , Haase was a guest on the Chaosradio Express podcast several times between 2007 and 2012 .
Since 2010, Haase has been reporting on the Pirate Party and topics of the Pirate Party in his podcast Klabautercast , which is independent of the Pirate Party. A frequent topic on the podcast is controversy over the use of Liquid Democracy in the Pirate Party. Christopher Lauer was interviewed several times .
In his podcast Leet-Kultur , Martin Haase deals with cultural topics with changing interview partners. The part of the name Leet (or 1337) refers to the net jargon Leetspeak - matching the subtitle culture from the nerd's perspective . The individual episode titles often contain words that are seldom used and are therefore explained at the beginning from a linguistic point of view.
Since 2015 he has been discussing topics related to enjoyment in his podcast Genusscast together with Peter Hecko.
