The FC Brünninghausen (officially: Football Club Brünninghausen 1927 eV ) is a sports club from the Dortmund area Brünninghausen . The first soccer team played in the Oberliga Westfalen from 2016 to 2019 .

history

The club goes back to the workers' sports club FC Vorwärts Brünninghausen , which was founded in 1927 and which was banned and dissolved by the National Socialists six years later . In 1946 the association was re-established. When the epithet Vorwärts was deleted from the club name is unknown. In addition to soccer, FC Brünninghausen also offers volleyball , table tennis , gymnastics and body fit . The footballers made it into the district class for the first time in 1975. There the team was runner-up in 1980 behind Blau-Gelb Schwerin and also secured third place in 1987 and 1990. In 1992 they were relegated to the district league A. From 2002 to 2005, the team played again in the district league. Two years later, he was promoted to the district league again.

In 2009, the team rose unbeaten in the Landesliga Westfalen . Two years later, the team became national league champions and made the leap into the Westphalia league . In the first Westphalia league season 2011/12 they managed to stay up, before the Brünninghausen team were runner-up a year later, one point behind SV Zweckel . With a 3-0 defeat in the playoff against FC Eintracht Rheine in neutral Ascheberg , Dortmund missed promotion to the league. After a sixth and a fifth place, the Brünninghausenern succeeded in the 2015/16 season promotion to the league after a series of seven wins in a row at the end of the season. In the process, the team overtook 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn , which had been leading for a long time , and had a twelve point lead over the same team at the beginning of Dortmund's winning streak.

Behind the sporting upswing is Stefan Heinig, the owner of the discounter KiK and TEDi , who used to be a player and referee at FC Brünninghausen. The club is occasionally mocked as BSG KiK / TEDi through sponsorship . Since March 2017, FC Brünninghausen has been negotiating a merger with Hombrucher SV , which was intended for the 2018/19 season. However, no agreement was reached. Instead, FC Brünninghausen was relegated to the Westphalia League again in 2019.

Stadion

The home ground of FC Brünninghausen is the Am Hombruchsfeld sports field with a capacity of 2,500. In 2009 the previous tennis court was replaced by artificial turf . In April 2013 a covered grandstand with around 200 seats was inaugurated.
