Marcel Stenzel (born February 17, 1992 in Dortmund ) is a German football player .

Career

Youth and amateur area (until 2013)

Stenzel began playing football in the youth of TSC Eintracht Dortmund and then went through different age groups in the junior division of the professional club Borussia Dortmund . One of his teammates was the future world champion Mario Götze , with whom a close friendly relationship developed. After his time as a youth player ended in 2011, he did not receive a follow-up contract in the senior division with Dortmund and instead switched to the second team of Preußen Münster . For this he was a regular player in the sixth class Westfalenliga before his contract was not extended after a year. Despite this fact, at the suggestion of his friend Mario Götze, he was allowed to take part in the talent competition “The Chance” organized by Nike , was able to assert himself against other young players from the German-speaking area and therefore reached the international round. In the summer of 2012 he took part in the relevant course in Spain and was hired for the following season at the Westphalian league club TSG Sprockhövel .

At Sprockhövel he came to regular missions, where he was mostly called up in the attacking midfield . For the 2013/14 season he changed employers again and signed with the second team of MSV Duisburg, which was also in the fifth class .

Development to a professional in Duisburg (2013-2015)

In the second selection of the MSV, he immediately became a regular player and was so promising that he was allowed to take part in the professional team's training camp in the run-up to the 2014/15 season. Then he was still called up in the league, but was often on the bench in the third division games of the professionals; coach Gino Lettieri did not initially fall back on him. This changed on March 21, 2015 when he made his debut in professional football in the 4-1 away win against Borussia Dortmund II by substituting in the 81st minute and shortly afterwards was able to prepare the last Duisburg goal with a pass to Kingsley Onuegbu . At that time, Stenzel was 23 years old. At the end of the season, the team was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga, but his contract was not extended and he was initially without a club.

Return to the amateur field (since 2015)

After a short time without an employer, he was signed by the regional league club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen at the end of September 2015 and thus joined a club from the fourth-highest division for the first time. However, he was only used twice for Oberhausen's first team before moving to FC Brünninghausen in the sixth-class Westfalenliga 2 in February 2016 . Stenzel is now playing for FK Sharri Dortmund
