Location of Sölderholz in Dortmund

Sölderholz is the statistical district 45 and at the same time a south-eastern part of the city of Dortmund .

Sölderholz only grew as a district in the last century. Its name is derived from "Sölder wood", i.e. the forest belonging to Sölde , the neighboring district.

In the south Sölderholz borders on Lichtendorf (Dortmund) , which also belongs to statistical district 45, in the west on Aplerbeck and the Aplerbecker Mark , in the north on Sölde and in the east on Holzwickede . With the exception of the border with Lichtendorf, there are no continuous buildings to the neighboring districts. The Emscher rises in a forest area between Sölderholz and Holzwickede .

The development of Sölderholz is mainly characterized by single-family houses or row houses. Further developments are being planned.

Sölderholz, near the forest, is a popular residential area in Dortmund and has a relatively low unemployment rate and a high average income.
