Eichlinghofen is an originally rural south-western Dortmund district in the district of Hombruch . Mentioned for the first time in 927, in the later Middle Ages it was the seat of the knight dynasty of the Lords of Eichlinghofen. There are three acorns in the Eichlinghof coat of arms .
Today, the southern campus and a dormitory of the Technical University of Dortmund are located in the Eichlinghofen district .
Eichlinghofen is particularly popular as a place of residence for students.
history
Around 1700, near-surface mining began in the area. In 1856 various mines were merged to form the United Henriette mine , which was connected to the Barop train station by horse-drawn tram to transport the coal . In 1884, the promotion in the area of today's district was stopped. In 1920 Eichlinghofen was incorporated into Barop.
Protestant church monument
The Protestant Church of St. Margareta is a hall church with a west tower from the middle of the 13th century. The transept was built in around 1899 and the church was extended to the east. Romanesque portals and windows are worth seeing.

H-Bahn
In 1993, with the expansion of the H-Bahn, a connection was created between Eichlinghofen and the university's S-Bahn station. The different areas of the university and the technology center were integrated into the public transport network of the VRR .
