Hangeney is an urban area in Dortmund . It is officially located in the Kirchlinde district and does not form a separate district. Since the Kirchlinde district is larger than average, the area around Hangeneystraße is called Hangeney in the region. The borders of the Hangeney are fluid, that's why the population moves from only 800 to 12,500 people, depending on how big the Hangeney is.

history

Until the end of the First World War , Hangeneystraße was called Moltkestraße, while Hangeney was mainly farmland before the Second World War . After the war it became a residential area. In the lower part of the Hangeney, parts of the first buildings from the mid-19th century have been preserved.

General

There is comparatively little infrastructure in the Hangeney. There is only one kiosk, two restaurants and a municipal primary school, the Hangeney primary school.

The Dortmund-Marten station is a stop on the Emschertal Railway from Dortmund to Dorsten and has its only access from Hangeneystraße.

The Protestant parish Dortmund-Kirchlinde closed the parish hall of the Hangeney parish in August 2006. Since then, community activities have taken place in the church in the center of Kirchlind, two kilometers away.

The former restaurant "Hangeney Stübchen" existed since 1970, it was closed as the last pub on Hangeney.

Since 1966 the Hangeney has had a soccer club, the Hangeney 66 e. V., which in the shadow of its big neighbors from Westrich, Kirchlinde and Marten was always one of the smallest clubs in the Dortmund area, but made it into the district league in the 90s. There he was at times the smallest district league in Germany and currently plays in the district league A.
