The Westfalenhalle district is a statistical district of the city center-west of the city of Dortmund . It has the code number 01 and is divided into the subdistricts Westfalenhalle (011) , Südwestfriedhof (012) and Tremonia (013) .
The district is characterized by urban development. It begins southwest of Dortmund city center and extends from there about two kilometers south to west like a segment of a circle. The residents of the district feel more like their grown quarters. The residential areas Kreuzviertel (north of the sub-district Westfalenhalle) and the Althoff block (in the sub-district Tremonia) are part of this urban unit.
In the south of the sub-district of Westfalenhalle, south of Bundesstrasse 1 and around Strobelallee , the namesake event center Westfalenhallen , the former Volkspark Dortmund , with the Westfalenhallen, the Westfalenstadion , the Rote Erde stadium and the Helmut-Körnig-Halle . Also noteworthy is the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences , whose rectorate and some departments are located in the north of the sub-district.
