Lütgendortmund is a district and urban district of Dortmund . With an area of ​​2241  ha, it is one of medium-sized among Dortmund's twelve boroughs . Around 48,840 inhabitants live in the city district (as of 2018). It borders on the districts of Innenstadt-West , Hombruch and Huckarde as well as the cities of Castrop-Rauxel , Witten and Bochum .

The city district consists of the districts Bövinghausen , Lütgendortmund , Marten , Oespel , Kley , Somborn , Holte-Kreta and Westrich . Lütgendortmund is the westernmost district of Dortmund; the westernmost parts of the city district are Holte-Kreta and Bövinghausen, on the city limits to Bochum (and Castrop-Rauxel ).
