Salingen is a district of Dortmund on the southwestern edge of the urban area and belongs to the Hombruch district . With only 149 inhabitants (as of the end of 2013), it is the smallest district in Dortmund.

geography

The district consists of the following two parts:

  • The Salingen farming community , a scattered settlement in the middle of the Salinger Feld , is located on the east side along the road between Eichlinghofen and Annen . It is bounded to the northeast by the A 45 Dortmund - Frankfurt am Main and to the south by the A 44 Bochum - Witten - Dortmund. On the western side of the country road, the Witten farmers of Tiefendorf join.
  • The Salingen settlement , a small, closed village, is located at the northern end of this area, directly on the A 45, and is only separated from Eichlinghofen by this motorway.

The Salinger Feld is sloping to the south and thus offers a panorama from the north with Salingen and Tiefendorf in the foreground and Witten and the Ardey Mountains in the background.

Salingen is a maximum of 1 km from the Witten-Annen junction (45) on the 44 motorway.

Attractions

  • The Salinger Feld is now known for its three wind turbines that can be seen from afar .
  • The Salingen stud at the southern end of the Salingen settlement is also known in equestrian circles.

history

The first farm settlements are already documented for the year 801. In the middle of the 19th century there were around 10 farms and cottages and around 80 residents in Salingen. The population rose rapidly due to the influx of miners and in 1905 it was already 249. The district administrator of the district of Hörde , Wilhelm Hansmann , drove forward numerous settlement construction projects, which led to the establishment of a. the Salingen settlement in 1924/25.

Salingen was incorporated into Barop in around 1920 and joined Dortmund on August 1, 1929.

Salingen historically belonged to the Eichlinghofen parish and has been firmly connected to the history of that place ever since. The Salingen district today forms its own statistical sub-district within the Eichlinghofen statistical district.
