Location of Lanstrop in Dortmund

Lanstrop is the statistical district 25 and at the same time a district of the city of Dortmund . It is located in the extreme northeast of the Scharnhorst district and in North Rhine-Westphalia in the east of the Ruhr area .

The village has 4,447 inhabitants (2019).

Lanstrop is a rural suburb that still has a few farms.

geography

Lanstrop is about ten kilometers northeast of downtown Dortmund. The place borders in the north on the Lüner districts Niederaden and Horstmar. In the border area to the city of Lünen, the federal motorway 2 runs , which here represents part of the Dortmund motorway ring. In the south, Lanstrop borders on the Dortmund districts of Grevel and Kurl , and in the east on the Kamen suburb of Methler .

The place is divided by the Wengepark, which forms the border between Alt-Lanstop in the south and Neu-Lanstrop in the north.

The bourgeois Alt-Lanstrop is the actual grown village, which is predominantly characterized by single-family houses and also has some half-timbered houses and farms.

Neu-Lanstrop is a LEG settlement that was built in the 1960s and is characterized by four-story high-rise apartment buildings and terraced houses. For a long time, the high-rise residential buildings had a very high proportion of vacancies.

history

The place Lanstrop was first mentioned in the 13th century with the old names Lammerstorpe, Lanstorp, or Lambsdorf. The notation "Lambsdorf" is also reflected in the name of Westphalia , in a branch from the beginning of the 15th century Baltic German Uradels gender from Wenge called Lambsdorff , which is headquartered in Lanstroper House Wenge had, where there are already 1239 with the Knight Henricus de Wenge is mentioned for the first time and that its Westphalian branch owned with interruptions until the early 19th century. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the Lanstrop peasantry (parish Kurl) belonged to the Märkisches Amt Unna.

Sights of the district are the Lanstroper See , the " Lanstroper Ei " (actually located in the Grevel area), the Wenge house, various parks, the Catholic Church of St. Michael, the Evangelical Church of Peace and the fallow deer enclosure.

The largest sports club in the district is BV Teutonia Lanstrop with a football, athletics, tennis and Hap-Ki-Do department.

Wild deer can sometimes be seen in the morning in the meadows and fields around the Kurler Busch . In the afternoons, cyclists, walkers, horses and riders are regularly out and about here.

The “Lanstroper Egg” - an old water tower and at the same time the landmark of Lanstrop - is located on the route of industrial culture , which leads past Lanstrop.

Lanstrop was incorporated into Dortmund on April 1, 1928.

On July 1, 1950, there was an exchange of territory between the cities of Dortmund and Lünen. In the Lanstrop area, the motorway was set as the new border. Lanstrop lost about 16.82 hectares to Lünen. This contrasted with a gain of 34.84 hectares for Lanstrop (main part), Hostedde and Derne.

Lanstrop has had a special feature since around 1998 with the connection to the federal motorway 2 between the Dortmund-Nordost motorway junction and the Kamener Kreuz junction: a one-way motorway entrance and exit. It is only possible to access and exit Lanstrop on the southern lane of the motorway in the direction of Hanover . The northern carriageway in the direction of Oberhausen has no access / exit at Lanstrop (it would, however, already be in the Lüner area).

The best-known resident of Lanstrop was the writer Max von der Grün (" Vorstadtkrokodile ") who died on April 7, 2005 . He owned a semi-detached house on Bremsstrasse.
