Left Alliance Dortmund was a group of voters in Dortmund in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was an alliance of communists , socialists and non-party leftists . On April 29, 2013, the dissolution of the Left Alliance Dortmund was decided at a general meeting.

Positions

The Left Alliance Dortmund campaigned for a communist form of society. Socialism is a stage on the way there.

The Left Alliance Dortmund is not mentioned by name in the NRW Constitutional Protection Report 2008. However, the local political strategy of the DKP is discussed several times.

History of the Left Alliance Dortmund

The Left Alliance Dortmund was founded before the local elections in 1999 by the district associations of the PDS and the DKP in Dortmund. Until 2004 it was called "Linkes Bündnis Dortmund - Left Party, DKP & PDS". In the 1999 local elections, the Left Alliance got 1.0% of the vote and a seat on the city council. This was noticed by Astrid Keller, a member of the PDS. She remained as a non-attached member of the Council until the end of the electoral term. Furthermore, in 1999, one candidate from the Left Alliance was elected to the district representatives Inner City North and Inner City West.

For the 2004 local elections, the PDS broke away from the Left Alliance and stood alone as a candidate for the PDS Open List. The rest of the Left Alliance changed its name to "Linkes Bündnis Dortmund - non-party Left, DKP & SDAJ". It won 0.8% of the vote and again a seat on the city council. This was taken by Wolfgang Richter, member of the DKP, who also became the council's senior president. Both seats in the district councils were lost in the 2004 local elections. Richter became an advisory member of the Committee on Environment, Urban Design and Housing and the Committee on Social Affairs, Family and Health.

Until August 2007 he remained as a non-attached member of the council. In August 2007 he and three other council members founded the parliamentary group “Die Linken im Rat”, which existed until the end of the October 2009 electoral term.

In the local elections in 2009, the Left Alliance just barely succeeded in re-entering the Dortmund city council with 0.6%. Thus, since October 2009 it has no more mandates.

In September 2011, the Left Alliance Dortmund organized under the motto “Never again fascism! No to war “a demonstration against the march of right-wing extremists in Dortmund's northern part of the city.

When the council elections were repeated on August 26, 2012, the Left Alliance fell to 0.5% and thus once again missed out on the council.

On April 29, 2013, the dissolution of the Left Alliance Dortmund was decided at a general meeting. At the same time, the DKP announced that it would run for the district representatives Inner City North and Inner City West in the 2014 local elections.

Left Group in the Council

The 2004 elected City Council Wolfgang Richter (Left Alliance) founded on 13 August 2007 with the three councilors of the Left Party Hannes Fischer, Nursen Konak and Wolf Stammnitz the Council faction , the Left in the Council . Group chairman was Wolf Stammnitz, deputy chairman Wolfgang Richter.

In addition to the 4 council mandates, the parliamentary group also comprised 7 district representatives, all of whom belong to the Die Linke party.

In addition to other issues, the parliamentary group is working primarily on
- the introduction of a free social ticket (limited to 2 years for a contribution of 15 euros later by the SPD and the Greens)
- prevention of the privatization of municipal companies (cross-border leasing)
- Remunicipalisation of the Dortmund public utilities DSW21
- dismantling of Dortmund airport
- fight against racism and fascism in Dortmund
- achievement of a barrier-free (handicapped accessible) city
- fight against Hartz IV or the improvement of the financial situation of Hartz IV victims.

After the local elections in 2009, the parliamentary group was dissolved and replaced by the DIE LINKE parliamentary group . Replaced in the council of the city of Dortmund , because the Left Alliance Dortmund was no longer represented in the council. As part of the new parliamentary group, however, the Left Alliance continued to work by appointing a competent citizen (Wolfgang Richter, Committee on the Environment, Urban Design, Housing and Real Estate) and a member of the parliamentary group.
