Heinz Neuhaus (born April 14, 1926 in Iserlohn ; † April 6, 1998 in Dortmund ) was a German boxer .

Career

The native Iserlohner started boxing in Dortmund . In 1942 and 1943 he was German youth champion in the light heavy and heavy weights. After the war and being a prisoner of war he became a professional boxer and played his first fight on May 29, 1949 in Leipzig , which he won against Hubert Thiele on points. He fought his last fight on September 26, 1958. In these almost 10 years Heinz Neuhaus boxed almost against the entire German and European top class of his time and against some of the world's best. His fights were always spectacular, he never hid behind tactical finesse.

His fights against Hein ten Hoff , Hamburg , whom he defeated twice in three fights, in a draw, and his knockout victory over ten Hoff in the first round on July 20, 1952 in the Rote Erde stadium in front of 50,000 spectators, caused a sensation cared. Hein ten Hoff fell so miserably in a knockout blow that he broke his leg. Neuhaus also fought true ring battles with different outcomes against the Belgian Karel Sys . On September 12, 1954, Heinz Neuhaus defeated the American Dan Bucceroni , who was temporarily number 3 in the world rankings of the American boxing journal "The Ring" in Dortmund , over 10 rounds on points. He suffered heavy knockout defeats on November 15, 1953 in a World Cup elimination match against Niño Valdés , Cuba , on September 14, 1957 against Hans Kalbfell and on July 13, 1958 against former world champion Ingemar Johansson , Sweden .
