The Völkermarkter Sport- und Turnverein 1868 , VST Völkermarkt for short , is a football club in the Carinthian town of Völkermarkt in the district of the same name . The club belongs to the Carinthian Football Association (KFV) and has been playing in the fourth highest performance level, the Carinthian Regional League , since the 2019/20 season .

history

The football section of the club, then still known as the Völkermarkter Sport Club , was brought back to life in 1946 after the club was resumed after the Second World War . In 1951 the association was given its current name. As early as the 1960s, they took part in the Carinthian Regional League , from which they were relegated in 1971. It is unclear when one rose again.

In the 2006/07 season they reached eleventh place in the table in the fourth-highest division, and they had eight points ahead of the first relegated team. In the following season they occupy fifth place in the league. In the 2008/09 season, Völkermarkt reached third place in the table. However , they were 20 points behind the champions SC St. Stefan / Lavantal . In the 2009/10 season, the club finished ninth in the Carinthian regional league.

In the 2010/11 season they finished 13th and only escaped relegation with a win on the last day of play against SK Maria Saal , as competitor FC Welzenegg lost their game against FC Lendorf at the same time . In 2011/12 they had no relegation worries again and took eighth place in the secured midfield. In the 2012/13 season they reached fifth place. In the following season they finished fourth, but were twelve points behind the champions ATSV Wolfsberg .

In the 2014/15 season, Völkermarkt was four points behind the Annabichler SV runner-up in the Carinthian regional league. In the following season they took eighth place again in the midfield of the league, and they also took part in that season in the ÖFB Cup , but where they failed in the first round against league competitor Lendorf. In the 2016/17 season, they improved by one place and finished seventh at the end of the season. In the 2017/18 season they were runner-up again, one point behind Lendorf, but this time they were promoted to the regional league for the first time due to a league reform . In the 2018/19 season they took part again in the Cup, where, as in the 2015/16 season, they did not get past the first round because they failed at the fourth-class SAK Klagenfurt .
