Johann "Hans" Eigenstiller (born June 17, 1943 ) is a former Austrian national soccer player .

Career

The Upper Austrian Hans Eigenstiller began his career at SK Vorwärts Steyr ; He made his debut in the A-League in 1963/64 at SV nitrogen Linz , where he played every game of the season. In 1965 he was directed to FC Wacker Innsbruck , where he was quickly promoted to national team, he was a regular in the Austrian defense from 1967. In order to be able to play internationally at club level, Hans Eigenstiller pushed for a move to Rapid , but Wacker put himself across the board. Temporarily without a club, he started in Hütteldorf during the winter break in 1968/69 and was promptly won the ÖFB Cup ; but in 1969/70 he was back in Innsbruck.

In Innsbruck Eigenstiller was able to collect numerous national titles with Wacker and from 1971 SSW Innsbruck. By the end of his career in the summer of 1977, he was five times Austrian champion and won the ÖFB Cup three more times. He belonged to the national team under Leopold Šťastný until 1975. The supposed climax, the World Cup qualification in '74 , went wrong at the last second, however, when he and the team were defeated by Swedes with equal points and goals in a play-off game on neutral ground in Gelsenkirchen, almost 1: 2.

After finishing his active career in 1977, Hans Eigenstiller first became a representative at the sporting goods company adidas , and from 1982 to 2009 he owned his own driving school in Innsbruck. The former defender took over SSW Innsbruck as coach from the summer of 1978. However (mainly due to the sales, among others from Kurt Welzl and Bruno Pezzey and Josef Stering ) the success failed ; from the spring of 1979 the ex-Hungary team boss Lajos Baróti was the new coach (but even he could not prevent the relegation to the 2nd division).
Later Eigenstiller was also in 1979/80 at IG Bregenz / Dornbirn as a player-coach on the sidelines and sometimes also in defense.
