The Stuttgarter Wochenblatt is a free advertising paper for the greater Stuttgart area , which appears every Wednesday (until 2012: Thursday). The weekly newspaper, first published in August 1955, is one of the oldest advertising journals in Germany. It has a circulation of around 330,000 copies in 12 local editions. The distribution area includes the Stuttgart city area and the neighboring cities of Leinfelden-Echterdingen , Filderstadt , Ostfildern (Filder Wochenblatt) , Fellbach (Fellbacher Wochenblatt) and Gerlingen (Gerlinger Wochenblatt) . In addition to advertisements, the sheet contains current local reports and service information.

The Stuttgarter Wochenblatt is published by the Stuttgarter Wochenblatt GmbH , 51% of which is owned by Württemberger Zeitung GmbH , and thus part of the Stuttgart newspaper group of Medienholding Süd GmbH (MSG) of Südwestdeutsche Medien Holding (SWMH). The editorial office is located in the Stuttgart Press House .

The Stuttgarter Wochenblatt was founded in August 1955 by Maximilian Laier (1899–1971) under the title Das Wochenend . After his death, his widow Ruth Laier was a partner in the publishing house. Guido Laier, a legacy of the founder, today (2016) holds a minority share of 39%. As a member of the Württemberg publishers group, the publisher holds a share in the capital of Südwestdeutsche Medien Holding (SWMH).

From 1962 to 1987 the publisher, journalist and writer Hans-Frieder Willmann (born June 19, 1922) was the editor of the weekly newspaper. Under his leadership, the Stuttgarter Wochenblatt made press history by winning two judgments by the Federal Court of Justice in 1968 and 1971, according to which the free delivery of advertising papers with editorial content was declared non-competitive. Under the pseudonym Fred Wiesen he wrote the column "Stuttgarter Tagebuch", which was also published in book form. Hans-Frieder Willmann owns 10% of the capital of Stuttgarter Wochenblatt GmbH and, as a member of the Württemberg publishers group, has a share in the Südwestdeutsche Medien Holding (SWMH).
