Philipp Wendler (born June 2, 1991 ) is an Austrian football player in the position of a striker .

Career

youth

Wendler began his active career as a football player at the end of April 1998 when he was accepted into the youth of his home club, Sportunion Gossendorf , in the small south-east Styrian community of Gossendorf . After he had already gone through a few youth teams, he came to the neighboring town of Pertlstein at the beginning of 2001 to join the cooperation association represented there, the SG Union Pertlstein . There he played until June 2001 and then came back to his home club again. At the beginning of August 2001, the then ten-year-old was handed over to the cooperation association again and finally came back to it in mid-July 2002 and then spent another three years with the Gossendorfer offspring. In August 2005, Wendler was brought into the youth department of Kapfenberger SV and at the same time accepted into the Kapfenberger junior model.

With the Obersteirern he scored seven goals in his first youth season in twenty championship games. It was similarly successful in his second season in Kapfenberg, where he scored eight goals in 16 games and was included in the squad of the third team with play in the seventh-class regional league Mürz during the same season . After he had already played a few games in the regional league, he came to two youth missions in the 2007/08 season and then focused exclusively on the Mürz regional league.

Time at ASC Rapid Kapfenberg

In his very first season in the seventh-class regional league Mürz Wendler brought outstanding performances. Although he only made five appearances at the end of the season, he scored six goals and finished second behind Sascha Harb (9 goals) in the team's internal goalscorer list. The young striker made his team debut on May 17, 2007 in a 3-0 away win over SV Breitenau , when he was on the pitch from the start. Just one round later, he scored the first goal in a 2-1 home defeat against the second team of SC Bruck / Mur on May 20, 2007 , when he scored the only goal of his team in this game. After he scored twice against ASK Phönix Hönigsberg in the following round , the trained attacking player got his first hat-trick in adult football in the last round of the season in a 3-1 away win over SC Gusswerk .

His good form continued into the 2007/08 season. In his first seven championship appearances, he scored five goals and was initially one of the top scorers at ASC Rapid Kapfenberg alongside Lukas Stadler and Manfred Gollner . At the beginning of the season he scored a brace in a 3-0 home win over ATuS Langenwang and was once again successful in doubles in round 13 in the 6-0 away win over the second team of SC Mürzhofen / Allerheiligen . On May 10, 2008, he gave his last game in green and white in the 2-0 away win against ASK Phönix Hönigsberg and was then injured for several months. With a record of 16 championship appearances and seven goals, Wendler and his team became champions of the Mürz regional league at the end of the season, with the team having an eleven point lead over SV Hinterberg and SV Breitenau .

Almost exactly five months after his last championship game for ASC Rapid Kapfenberg , Wendler made his comeback for the third team of Kapfenberger SV on October 11, 2008 in a 3: 3 home draw against SV Oberwölz , when he played through the full match duration. The native of Southeast Styria was still there in two other games, although he was only used in one and was replaced early. In the second game he was only on the bench for Kapfenberg.

From the farm team to the national league

Wendler had to wait almost five months for his next championship appearance until he finally made his debut in the fourth-class Styrian regional league on March 15, 2009 in the 4-0 away defeat against eventual champions SVL Flavia Solva together with his teammate Lukas Stadler . In contrast to Stadler, who was on the pitch from the start, Wendler was only used as a substitute. At the beginning of his national league time, the 1.92 m tall striker was mainly used as a substitute player and initially only made a number of short appearances. On May 1, 2009, Wendler was finally on the pitch for the first time in his still short national league career over the full playing time in the 3-5 home defeat against UFC Fehring . About two weeks later, on May 16, 2009, Wendler scored his first goal in the fourth division in a 6-0 home win over Deutschlandsberger SC . He scored the final goal with a penalty in the 89th minute of the game. With 16 league appearances and one goal, Wendler and his team finished the season in twelfth place, although the team was still able to avert a possible relegation to fifth division.

After Wendler was already in the season preparation before the 2009/10 season with the professional team of his home club, he was brought into the Bundesliga squad at the beginning of the season, although he was still used exclusively in the national league, but always trained with the professionals. With the 2009/10 season, the young attacking player advanced to become a regular player in the national league team and to date (May 9, 2010) has made 21 championship appearances in which, however, he was unsuccessful. Of the 21 games, he was on the field for the full length of time in 19. Although he had already played a game in the regional league on the same day and played there for over 60 minutes, Wendler was supported by KSV trainer Werner Gregoritsch for the Bundesliga match between Kapfenberger SV and SC Magna Wr. Neustadt brought into the professional squad. At the away match in Wr. The 18-year-old finally came to Neustadt in the 87th minute for Deni Alar and made his debut in Austria's top division.

Change into professional life

In the summer of 2016 he moved to the state division TuS Bad Gleichenberg in order to be able to start his professional life. With Bad Gleichenberg he rose to the regional league in 2017. In January 2019 he moved to the league competitor Grazer AK . With the GAK he rose to the second division at the end of the season.

For the 2020/21 season he moved to league competitor SV Lafnitz .
