Manfred Gollner (born December 22, 1990 ) is an Austrian football player on the position of a defender .

Career

youth

Gollner began his active career as a soccer player at the age of six in mid-April 1997 in the youth department of his home club, FC Obdach . In Obdach in the Judenburg district, he went through various youth play classes and came to the LAZ Judenburg at an advanced age . He finally attended this until he left Kapfenberger SV in 2005. After he came to Kapfenberg at the beginning of August 2005 only on a cooperation basis , he switched to the Upper Styrian club in 2006 as an integral part of the youth of Kapfenberger SV . All in all, he was active there in various junior teams until 2007. In 2005/06 one goal in 20 appearances, Gollner scored three goals in 16 youth championship appearances in the 2006/07 season. During this time, the young Obdacher was already integrated into the club's amateur teams in the lower-class leagues of Styrian football.

First experiences at ASC Rapid Kapfenberg

In the spring championship 2006/07 Gollner made it for the first time in the squad of ASC Rapid Kapfenberg , which was still represented in the seventh-class regional league Mürz at that time . He finally made his league debut on April 29, 2007 in a 1-1 home draw against SC Parschlug , when he came on the lawn as a substitute. Only two laps later he was on the pitch from the start in another 1-1 home draw, this time against ATuS Wartberg . By the end of the season, Gollner made a total of eight league appearances and reached fifth place with his team in the final table.

In the following season 2007/08 the trained defender showed what he has to offer offensively. Already in the third round of the current season he scored his first competitive goal in adult football when he placed the ball in a direct free kick in the opposing goal in a 3: 4 away defeat against ATuS Wartberg . Just one lap later, in a 4-0 home win over SV Union Mautern , he scored his first brace in his young career in men's football. By the twelfth round, Gollner had already scored seven goals and at that point was together with his teammate Lukas Stadler the team's top scorer.

The negative highlight of the season for the then 17-year-old was March 30, 2008 (14th round), when he saw yellow and then yellow-red within just one minute and had to leave the pitch early. Although the Kapfenberger played with one man less from this point (55th minute), they won the game against SC Gusswerk 3-1. He played his last league game for ASC Rapid Kapfenberg on April 13, 2008 with a 2-0 home win over ATuS Wartberg (16th round) and thus had seven goals in 15 championship appearances this season.

Called up to the national league squad

After the good performance in the farm team, Gollner was finally brought into the national league team. At Rapid Kapfenberger he had a share in the championship title, which the team won at the end of the season with an eleven point lead over SV Hinterberg and SV Breitenau . In the national league he finally made his league and team debut on April 18, 2008 when he played through the full match duration in the 0-2 away defeat against WSV St. Lambrecht . By the end of the 2007/08 season, the native of Murtal had played in seven national league games and was only on the bench in two more.

Also in the following season 2008/09 Gollner could not develop into a regular in the national league team. So he only came to a total of 15 championship appearances in which he only played a few for the full duration. In another league game, he was only on the bench without being used. On April 21, 2009, he got his first national league goal in a 2-2 away draw against the amateurs of FC Gratkorn , which should remain the only one for him this season. With his team he only managed a twelfth place in the final table, but a possible relegation to the fifth division could still be averted.

Breakthrough in the regional league and debut in the Bundesliga

For the 2009/10 season he made the longed-for breakthrough in the national league and was used in 20 games for the KSV Amateurs by May 1, 2010, scoring two goals. In the fourth round of the current season, similar negative things happened to him as when he was with the farm team. In the 1: 2 home defeat against SVU Gleinstätten , he saw first yellow and then yellow-red within just one minute. In lap 9 Gollner stood for the first time as captain of the team on the lawn and remained so up to and including the eleventh lap. After he tied the captain's loop again in round 14 and was not in the squad in round 15, he has been the current captain of the Kapfenberg state league team since the 16th round.

Although the amateurs had an important game against FC Gleisdorf 09 in the Steirer Cup on May 4, 2010 (7th round; quarter finals), KSV coach Werner Gregoritsch added Gollner to the squad for the Bundesliga game against FC Red Bull Salzburg Professional teams brought in. While the amateurs lost the away match 3-0, the professional team won 2-0 at home against the guests from Salzburg , with Manfred Gollner replacing the Serbian striker Srđan Pavlov to defend the lead from the second half of the game . Together with Gollner, Lukas Stadler of the same age made his professional debut that evening .

Back to the Bundesliga via Hartberg

For the 2016/17 season, Gollner moved to regional division TSV Hartberg . With Hartberg he was able to get promoted to professional football at the end of the season. Gollner was used in 28 of 30 games in the promotion season.

With the Hartberg team he was able to rise again in the 2017/18 season and thus march through from the regional league to the Bundesliga. After promotion, he moved to Wolfsberger AC in the summer of 2018 , where he received a contract that ran until June 2020. After his contract with the WAC he returned for the 2020/21 season to league rival Hartberg, with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2022.
