Alexander Burgstaller (born July 12, 1999 in Braunau am Inn ) is an Austrian soccer player .



Burgstaller began his career at ATSV Mattighofen . In 2006 he moved to SV Schalchen . In 2007 he joined the youth team of FC Red Bull Salzburg , where he later played in the academy. He won the UEFA Youth League with Salzburg's U-19 team in the 2016/17 season . Burgstaller played two games - against FK Qairat Almaty and FC Barcelona .

For the 2017/18 season he moved to LASK Juniors Upper Austria . In July 2017 he made his debut in the Regionalliga when he was in the starting line-up against TuS Bad Gleichenberg on the first day of that season and was replaced by Denny Schmid in the 82nd minute.

In November 2017 he was against SCR Altach for the first time in the LASK professional squad . In May 2018 he scored his first goal in the Regionalliga in a 2-1 defeat against SC Kalsdorf . At the end of the season he rose to the 2nd division with the Juniors . In the promotion season he came to 27 missions in the regional league and scored one goal.

He made his debut in the second highest division in July 2018 when he was in the starting line-up against the second team of FC Wacker Innsbruck on the first matchday of the 2018/19 season. After the 2018/19 season, he left the Juniors. After half a year without a club, he switched to the third-class amateurs of SK Rapid Vienna in January 2020 . Without a commitment for Rapid II, he switched to Bundesliga club TSV Hartberg for the 2020/21 season , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2022.

National team

Burgstaller played for an Austrian selection for the first time in April 2014. In August 2015 he made his debut against Russia for the Austrian U-17 selection . With this he also took part in the European Championship in 2016 , in which they failed in the quarter-finals to Portugal . Burgstaller was used in three of the four Austrian games during the tournament.

In September 2016 he played against Belgium for the U-18 team for the first time . In August 2017 he made his first appearance for the U-19 team against Norway . In March 2019 he played against Norway for the first time for the U-20 team .
