Philipp Zulechner (born April 12, 1990 in Vienna ) is an Austrian football player .
Career
society
Via Vienna to the Salzburg Academy
Zulechner began his career at Floridsdorfer AC . In 1998 he joined the youth team at FK Austria Wien . For the 2005/06 season he moved to the academy of VfB Admira Wacker Mödling . After two seasons in Lower Austria, he moved to the FC Red Bull Salzburg academy in 2007 . In July 2008 he made his debut for the second team of Salzburg in the second division when he came on as a substitute for Marko Vujić on the third match day of the 2008/09 season against SC Austria Lustenau in the 65th minute . In March 2009 he was in the starting line-up for the first time on the 20th matchday against 1. FC Vöcklabruck . In his first season with Red Bull Juniors, he completed 15 games in the second-highest division, in which he remained without a goal.
In May 2010 he scored his first goal in the second division in a 2-0 win against FC Lustenau 07 . In the 2009/10 season he came to 13 second division appearances in which he scored a goal. After the Red Bull Juniors had to be relegated from the second division at the end of the season, Zulechner moved to the second division SV Grödig for the 2010/11 season .
Back to the second division via the regional league
After eleven goalless appearances for Grödiger, he was awarded to the regional league team SV Horn during the winter break of that season . For Horn he came to 15 regional league appearances by the end of the season, in which he scored four goals. At the end of the season he was runner-up in the Regionalliga Ost with Horn. After the loan ended, he was signed by the Lower Austrians for the 2011/12 season. In the 2011/12 season he played 27 games in the regional league, in which he scored 15 goals, making him the top scorer of his team. In addition, he was with Horn at the end of the season champions of the Eastern League and was thus able to qualify for the promotion relegation. In this you could defeat the western league champions WSG Wattens in both games and move up to the second division. Zulechner scored a goal in the 4-0 win in the second leg. In the season after promotion, he came to 31 missions in 2012/13, in which he scored eleven goals.
Return to Grödig and first international transfer
For the 2013/14 season, Zulechner returned to SV Grödig, who had meanwhile been promoted to the Bundesliga . In July 2013 he made his debut in the top Austrian division when he came on as a substitute for Stefan Nutz in the 80th minute against SV Ried on the first day of the 2013/14 season . On the following day he scored his first two goals in the Bundesliga against SK Sturm Graz after his substitution in the 78th minute and immediately scored the 2-0 final score. By the winter break, Zulechner had played 20 Bundesliga games and scored 15 goals for Grödig.
He then moved to Germany for Bundesliga club SC Freiburg in January 2014 . In February 2014 he made his debut for Freiburg in the Bundesliga when he came on as a substitute for Vladimír Darida on matchday 22 against FC Augsburg in the 87th minute . In May 2014, he scored his only goal for Freiburg in the top German division in a 3-2 defeat against Hannover 96 on matchday 34 .
Back to Austria as a loan player
After he only made two appearances for Freiburg in the first half of the 2014/15 season, he returned to Austria on loan in January 2015 and switched to his youth club Austria Wien, which also secured a purchase option. For the Viennese, he played ten Bundesliga games by the end of the season and scored two goals. Austria did not take the purchase option, but the loan contract was extended by one season in June 2015. He then played 13 games in the Bundesliga by the winter break of the 2015/16 season, in which he did not score.
Via Switzerland back to Austria
During the winter break of the 2015/16 season, despite an ongoing contract with Austria in Switzerland, it was awarded to the BSC Young Boys , who, like Austria, secured a purchase option. In March 2016, he made his debut for the capital's club in the Super League when he came on as a substitute for Yoric Ravet on matchday 23 against FC Luzern in the 81st minute . By the end of the season he made eight appearances in the top Swiss league and remained without a hit. The Bernese did not take the option to buy and so he initially returned to Freiburg.
In August 2016 he moved back to Austria to SK Sturm Graz , where he received a contract that was valid until June 2018. In his first season for Sturm, he came to 15 league appearances in which he scored two goals. In his second season with Graz, he played 18 games in the Bundesliga and scored three goals. In the second half of that season, however, he did not play for the Graz team because he was infected with staphylococci in January 2018 and had to take a break for several months. After his contract expired after the 2017/18 season, he left Sturm.
A second time to Germany
After trying to get fit at FC Admira Wacker Mödling and SKU Amstetten and having completed unsuccessful trial training sessions at KFC Uerdingen 05 and SKN St. Pölten , he moved to Germany a second time in January 2019 after six months without a club, where he joined the second division club FC Erzgebirge Aue , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2019. He played his first game for Aue in the 2nd Bundesliga in February 2019 when he came on as a substitute for Pascal Testroet on the 22nd matchday of the 2018/19 season against FC St. Pauli in the 88th minute . In March 2019 he scored his first goal for Aue in the 2nd Bundesliga in a 2-1 win against SC Paderborn 07 . In April 2019, he extended his expiring contract in Aue until June 2020 and six months later until 2023.
National team
Zulechner made his debut for the Austrian national team on November 19, 2013 in a 1-0 win in a friendly against the USA . Team boss Marcel Koller sent him onto the field in the 85th minute instead of Lukas Hinterseer .
