Career

Mannel began his football career at the age of eight with FSV Velten and SC Oberhavel Velten. At the age of 14 he switched to Energie Cottbus . Here he attended the so-called "Elite School of Football", the Lausitz Sport University. MENNEL completed all youth departments and later was the goalkeeper of the second team, for which he was between the posts for the first time at the age of 17. During his time at Energie Cottbus he was appointed to the squad of the U19 junior national team for the first time. On July 21, 2007, he suffered a hearing trauma while playing against the Serbian youth team when a firecracker exploded right next to his goal.

For the 2008/09 season he was piloted by his former amateur trainer and former Auer coach Heiko Weber together with his teammates Arne Feick , Jan Hochscheidt and Marc Hensel to FC Erzgebirge Aue . Here Männel signed a contract until 2010 and was able to prevail against Stephan Flauder as the club's regular goalkeeper. His greatest sporting success was promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with FC Erzgebirge at the end of the 2009/10 season. In the course of the season, Männel extended his contract with the club until 2012. The first season in the second division was extremely successful for Männel and FC Erzgebirge; During the 2010/11 winter break , the newcomer was surprisingly at the top of the table, at the end of the season it was enough for fifth place. At the beginning of the 2013/14 season he lost his regular place to newcomer Sascha Kirschstein , but was able to recapture him at the end of the first half of the season. In February 2014 he extended his contract with Aue until June 2016. On May 24, 2015 he scored a goal with his head against 1. FC Heidenheim in the 88 minute . Despite this goal he had to start relegation to the 3rd division with Aue . After only one year he rose again to the 2nd Bundesliga with the club.
