Marc Hensel (born April 17, 1986 in Dresden ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Career

As a player

Marc Hensel played for Dynamo Dresden from 1992 . He fought his way through the Landesligaelf to the first team, for which he played two games in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2005/06 season .

After he did not get beyond sporadic missions in the 2006/07 season, he moved to Energie Cottbus in the following season . Hensel was in the official squad of the Bundesliga team, as the club has to report twelve German licensed players to the DFL . He played for the Lausitzer but as a regular in the second team, completed 30 games and scored seven goals.

For the 2008/09 season Hensel moved to FC Erzgebirge Aue in the third division . There he was in his first season in 37 games on the field and scored six goals. In the 2009/10 season he made promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with Aue. In the 2-1 home win against Eintracht Braunschweig on April 30, 2010, Hensel scored the 1-0 for FC Erzgebirge. Pierre le Beau later ensured with the 2-1 for the early securing of the promotion of the Auer in the 2nd Bundesliga. Thereupon he extended his contract for two years in May 2010. The contract also contained an option for a further year. Even in the higher division, Hensel remained a key player in the team and with nine goals this season, the defensive midfielder was the most successful goalscorer of the 2010/11 season . The club reached 5th place and thus the best placement in the club's history since reunification.

In June 2013 Marc Hensel moved from Erzgebirge Aue to third division club Chemnitzer FC . In Chemnitz he signed a contract until June 30, 2016. After the contract expired, he ended his playing career.

As a trainer

In June 2019 he was introduced as the new assistant coach of the first team at FC Erzgebirge Aue and, after Daniel Meyer's leave of absence, took over the position of head coach for a game on August 20 of the same year.

Private

Hensel at the Technical University of Dresden German and history teacher studied. In 2019 he worked as a high school teacher for German and history in Aue and also trains the A-Juniors of FC Erzgebirge Aue. He has been an assistant coach for FC Erzgebirge Aue since the 2019/20 season.
