Since Nazarov, who was born in the Soviet Union , only had a German passport at the time, he could have played for all other successor states of the Soviet Union. In the World Cup qualifier against Russia, Nazarov should be in the Azerbaijan squad for the first time. The Azerbaijani Association did not manage to get a passport for him in time, which is why he left again. On May 27, 2014, he finally made his debut for the Azerbaijani national football team in a friendly against the USA . Nazarov scored his first goal for Azerbaijan on September 9, 2014 in the qualifier for the 2016 European Championship in the 2-1 defeat against Bulgaria .
