1. FC Vöcklabruck

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1. FC Vöcklabruck (officially 1st football club RFE Vöcklabruck ) was a football club from the Upper Austrian town of Vöcklabruck . He played in the First Division in 2008/09, where he finished 12th. Then he stopped playing. With the Vöcklabrucker Sportclub ( VB SC for short ) a successor club was founded, which started again in the lowest Upper Austrian league.

history

Predecessor clubs (1926–1999)

The history of the two predecessor clubs, which had been offering amateur football with moderate success decades before, is closely linked to the establishment of 1. FC Vöcklabruck. So in 1926 the SV Vöcklabruck (club colors black and white) was founded with its own soccer section, which was to be found in the lower divisions. In 1953 and 1957 he was promoted to the Upper Austrian regional league (at that time the third highest level). Both times, however, the SV had to relegate to the lower classes after a year. It was not until 1977 that SV Vöcklabruck managed to get back to the fourth highest level through promotion to the 2nd regional league West. But this season did not bring in more than the penultimate place and the immediate relegation. In 1992 the short guest appearance in the 2nd regional league was to be repeated one last time. Most of the time, the SV Vöcklabruck was to be found in the district league.

Much later - in 1961 - the local rival ASKÖ Vöcklabruck (as ATSV) was founded. The soccer section, playing in red and white, made it into the district league for the first time in 1985. In 1989 the descent followed and from 1994 until the merger in 1999 the ASKÖ played again in the district league.

The highlights of Vöcklabruck football were the derbies. The first took place in 1972 and ended with a 3-2 victory for SV, the last derby rose in spring 1999, which SV also won 1-0. A total of 26 derbies took place between ASKÖ and SV. 15 of them were won by SV, six by ASKÖ and five ended in a draw. The goals also show that SV Vöcklabruck was more successful with 47 goals than ASKÖ with 26 goals.

Merger and establishment (1999)

However, the two city clubs constantly looked to smaller, but more successful neighboring towns in the district such as Vöcklamarkt or Timelkam , which had successes at state level or higher. Vöcklabruck, on the other hand, has not yet been able to play a decisive role in the district , and the city's good stadium infrastructure has not been used accordingly for years.

For two professional clubs in one city, there was not enough space, especially economically. Therefore, the local district television (BTV), under the direction of Oskar Stadler, invited the first merger talks between the local rivals in 1997. What followed were tedious negotiations and discussions between those responsible until the two traditional clubs were able to agree on a merger in the summer of 1999. Mainly responsible for this success were Alois Resch (President SV) and Hermann Knoll (Chairman ASKÖ). On June 21, 1999, the 1. FC RFE Vöcklabruck was finally officially founded.

Successful years (1999-2007)

The newly founded 1. FC Vöcklabruck with the club colors green and yellow was incorporated into the district league (6th division), as both teams played in this league before the merger. Already in the first year in the summer of 2000, under coach Helmut Nussbaumer, the club won the championship. With a lead of 21 points, he was promoted to the 2nd national division. Nevertheless, coach Helmut Nussbaumer said goodbye during the summer break, followed by Albert Kabashi, who in 2001 was again able to secure a championship title and the march into the Upper Austrian League.

1. FC Vöcklabruck started the 4th division with great expectations, but disappointment quickly followed. In addition to numerous sporting failures, the team also failed at local rivals Union Vöcklamarkt (0: 4 and 1: 3). Therefore, as the knocked-down bottom of the table (only 3 wins from 26 rounds) an immediate relegation was foreseeable early on.

During the summer break, Robert Tschaut was hired as the new head coach. However, this year too, the goal of an immediate recovery failed. While critics were already doubting the success of the still young club, the team was reorganized and in 2004 a sovereign championship title was celebrated. The subsequent second guest appearance in the Upper Austrian League was much more successful than the first. The local rivals were relegated to their places, and 1. FC Vöcklabruck was allowed to call itself Upper Austrian regional champion for the first time in 2005, a title that had never made it to the district town before. After the successful march into the regional league , significantly less was achieved in the following year. The transition to the new division did not succeed as desired, the team had to fight relegation all season. Also in the ÖFB-Cup, the Vöcklabruckers were eliminated on September 27, 2005 in front of 1,000 spectators in the first round against the favored LASK with a 0-2 home defeat. In order to avert the threat of relegation, master coach Robert Tschaut was dismissed in May 2006 and the former Bundesliga player Manfred Bender was signed . He managed the feat of keeping 1. FC Vöcklabruck in the 3rd performance class thanks to a better goal difference.

The following year should be far more successful. After the narrow win of the autumn championship 2006/07, the goals were set higher. After a tough preparation and with 7 new players, the Vöcklabruckers disappointed, however, the title ambitions had to be buried relatively quickly. A few laps before the end of the season, coach Manfred Bender moved prematurely to Bundesliga club SCR Altach after just one year .

With Frenkie Schinkels , a coach from the Bundesliga was hired for the first time in the district capital in May 2007 . Schinkels, who a few months before had looked after the reigning champions FK Austria Wien and led them to the championship title, ended the season in fifth place. In the following autumn, Frenkie Schinkels led 1. FC Vöcklabruck confidently with seven points ahead of the renewed autumn championship. During the winter break, coach Frenkie Schinkels separated, who followed the numerous calls from clubs in the Bundesliga and switched to SK Austria Kärnten .

Promotion and First League (until 2009)

Andrzej Lesiak was the successor to the coaching post . 1. FC Vöcklabruck continued to play very successfully under the new coach and was able to secure promotion to the first division (2nd performance class) on May 20, 2008 with a 4: 3 home win over SK Sturm Graz Amateure four rounds before the end . The team around captain Manfred Rothbauer won the championship title in the Middle Regionalliga with an impressive 16 points lead.

The first season in the First League was marked by a difficult battle to stay in the league, even if 1. FC Vöcklabruck was briefly in second place after the 5th round. In the ÖFB Cup, the club was eliminated again in autumn. Against Bundesliga leaders Red Bull Salzburg there was not much to gain in a 2: 4 defeat away from home despite a good performance.

In the winter break of 2008/09, the club overwintered on a relegation zone. Internal disagreements led to the change of the sports director, and coach Andrzej Lesiak had to vacate the coaching chair on January 8, 2009 in favor of Dejan Stanković . However, this change did not turn things around, and after the end of the season the last place in the table was on the books. The club had to relegate to the Middle Regional League.

Dissolution after the 2008/09 season

After relegation from the first league, the next setback followed with the withdrawal of the Vöcklabruck entrepreneur Alois Resch, who was also the club's president since 1999 and who was significantly involved in the founding. Resch's company "Resch Eisen, Gase und Transporte" (RFE) was both the main and name sponsor of the association. 1. FC Vöcklabruck could not make up for this loss and stopped playing before the start of the 2009/10 season. On July 9, 2009, a successor was founded with the Vöcklabrucker Sportclub , which had to start over in the lowest division.
