Thomas Winkler (born October 23, 1984 ) is an Austrian soccer player .

Career

Winkler began his career at Union Alberndorf . In 1997 he joined the LASK youth group . Between 1998 and 2004 he also played in the BNZ Linz . In 2003 he played for the first time for the LASK amateurs in the regional league , from which one had to be relegated in the 2003/04 season.

After relegation, he played his first game in the fourth-class Upper Austria league in August 2004 when he was in the starting line-up against ATSV Sattledt on the first day of the 2004/05 season . In the 2005/06 season Winkler belonged to the LASK professional squad, but did not appear in the second division.

For the 2006/07 season he moved to the regional division 1. FC Vöcklabruck . He scored his first goal for Vöcklabruck in August 2006 in a 3-1 win against Union St. Florian . With the club he rose to the second division in 2008 . In the 2007/08 promotion season, he completed 29 regional league games and scored four goals.

After promotion, he made his debut in the second-highest division in July 2008 when he was in the starting line-up against DSV Leoben on the first day of the 2008/09 season . After a season in the second division, however, he had to relegate the club again from this. After the subsequent cessation of game operations, Winkler moved to the Regionalliga West for SV Grödig in summer 2009 . With Grödig he rose to the second division in the 2009/10 season. That season, Winkler came to 29 appearances in the Regionalliga, in which he scored three goals.

After a season in the second highest division with Grödig, Winkler moved back to Upper Austria for the 2011/12 season and joined the regional division FC Wels . At the end of the season, however, he was relegated to the Upper Austrian League as 13th with Wels.

In July 2013, Winkler moved to the regional division FC Blau-Weiß Linz . For Linz he played 29 games in the regional league in the 2013/14 season and scored one goal. After a season at BW Linz, he returned to Wels in summer 2014.

In summer 2015 he joined the regional league team Union St. Florian. In his two years at St. Florian, he made 55 regional league appearances in which he scored three goals. For the 2017/18 season he moved to the fourth-class Union Edelweiß Linz .
