René Eisner (born September 2, 1975 in Voitsberg ) is an Austrian football referee . He is a member of the Styrian Football Association and belongs to the West Group of the Styrian Referees College. As of January 1, 2010, Eisner is on the list of FIFA referees.

Career as a soccer player

René Eisner started playing soccer for FC Ligist at the age of six. There he hiked through all the junior teams before he could gain a foothold in the combat team at the age of only 15. For FC Ligist, where he was mainly used as a striker, Eisner completed around 300 games in which he scored around 200 goals. During a serious injury break, Eisner attended a coaching course in 2000, which also included a standard course. Eisner took a liking to it, which is why he ended his playing career in 2001 in favor of a career as a football referee.

Career as a football referee

On April 20, 2000 René Eisner passed the soccer referee examination. After he was initially only allowed to lead youth games because of his active work as a soccer player, in spring 2001 he was already used in games of combat teams in lower-class games. Eisner ended his successful career as a football player in the summer of 2001 and started an even more successful one as a referee. Thanks to his physical fitness and because of his ambition, Eisner made the ascent very quickly. Thanks to excellent observation reports, he was able to qualify for the Styrian regional league in 2003 and was promoted to the Middle Regional League in summer 2004 . He had in the chairman of the Styrian football association and chairman of the referee committee of the ÖFB, Gerhard Kapl , who was a successful referee himself, a strict critic, but also a great supporter.

Kapl, who was convinced of Eisner's qualities, made himself strong for him in the ÖFB. As a result, Eisner came on March 24, 2006 to his qualifying game in the first division in the Styrian local derby FC Gratkorn against Kapfenberger SV (1: 1). After he passed this with excellent success, he was accepted into the squad of the Austrian Bundesliga referees on July 1, 2006, where he was used in the first division. Eisner had made the way to the Bundesliga referee in the record time of only five years.

On January 1, 2008, Eisner was again promoted and since then has also been leading games in the Austrian Bundesliga , the highest level. There he made his debut on March 19, 2008 in the game SV Ried against SV Mattersburg (0-0).

René Eisner, who has a great role model in the Styrian FIFA referee Stefan Meßner , is characterized by calm and matter-of-fact game management and consistent application of the rules. With his personal motto “ always give the best in order to be successful ” Eisner is also recognized and respected by the players.

On November 19, 2008, Eisner took over his first international game management at the friendly international match of the U20 teams between Italy and Switzerland. As of January 1, 2010, the Styrian received the status of a FIFA referee.

Private

The trained optician, who has his own Pearle branches, is married to Birgit Maier and has two sons (Dominik and Marco Alessio). René Eisner gets his stamina through consistent running training, which means that he has little time for other hobbies besides his job and family.
