The Cup of the Austrian Football Association was in the 2010/11 season played for the 76th time. The official name of the competition after the withdrawal of the previous competition sponsor, the Stiegl Brewery , was initially only "ÖFB-Cup", before Samsung Electronics Austria GmbH was won as a sponsor in April 2011 . Its motto was “Goals for Europe”. The defending champion was SK Sturm Graz .
The winner - SV Ried , who beat SC Austria Lustenau 2-0 in the final - was eligible to take part in the third qualifying round of the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League .
All finals in the ÖFB Cup can be found in the list of ÖFB Cup finals .
The games of the ÖFB Cup were not just a question of prestige, but also a battle for prize money. The participants in the second round received an entry fee of 4,000 euros . They received 8,000 euros in the round of 16, 25,000 euros in the quarterfinals and 40,000 euros in the semi-finals. The two finalists will be rewarded with 120,000 euros. Then there was the advertising revenue and the shared viewer revenue.
mode
The ÖFB-Cup will be played in the knockout system without a second leg. In the event of a tie after 90 minutes, there will be an extension of 15 minutes twice. If there is still no winner after that, the match will be decided on penalties .

draw
In the first two main rounds, Bundesliga clubs (Bundesliga and First League) were preferred to clubs of the regional associations, from the third round all teams were drawn from one pot.
If a club of a regional association was drawn against a Bundesliga club, the regional association club always had home rights until the third main round. In all other cases, the club drawn first at the time of the draw had home rights.
Preliminary round
The following 68 clubs play in the preliminary round for promotion to the first main round:
Games of the preliminary round
The draw for the preliminary round was carried out on July 7, 2010 by the ÖFB. The 34 games in the preliminary round had to be played by August 1, 2010 at the latest.
In the 34 games there were 6 comparisons between clubs in the regional league, 11 duels between clubs in the regional league and 17 pairings between clubs in the regional league and regional league, with 14 wins going to regional league clubs and 3 wins to regional league teams. Thus 25 regional league clubs and 9 national league teams were able to qualify for the first main round. From the second teams of the Bundesliga clubs only FC Admira Wacker Mödling II was eliminated.
The highest victory was achieved by SPG Austria Kapfenberg / Kapfenberger SV II, who beat SVL Flavia Solva away with 6-0 goals. It was remarkable that all six goals were scored in the second half of the game. With 5-0 goals each, FC Wacker Innsbruck II against SC Schwaz and SK Rapid Wien II against Admira Technopool celebrated the highest home wins. The latter game also deserves to be highlighted because Admira Technopool had to end the game with only eight players due to three yellow-red cards .

1st round games
The draw for the first round was held on August 3, 2010. The clubs of the Bundesliga and the First League could not be drawn against each other. Clubs of the regional associations were given home rights to clubs in the Bundesliga and First League. The games of the first round are to be played by August 15, 2010 at the latest.
The draw resulted in some interesting pairings. So at SK Rapid Wien there was an internal duel between the second team and the Bundesliga team. After eliminating the second team of FC Admira Wacker Mödling in the preliminary round, SKU Amstetten met the professional team of the club. There was a real local derby in Bregenz when the local SC received FC Lustenau 07.

Round of 16
The draw for the round of 16 took place on September 20, 2010, and the game was played on November 9 and 10, 2010.
In the round of 16, the regional league club FC Blau-Weiß Linz , who surprisingly defeated champions FC Red Bull Salzburg in the second round , lost to Bundesliga club SV Mattersburg at home . The Upper Austrian derby between the current (14th round) Bundesliga leader SV Ried and the Bundesliga bottom LASK Linz was won by Ried. The FK Austria Wien was promoted FC Wacker Innsbruck defeat at home in extra time and successfully took revenge for the 0: 3 defeat at the last meeting of the two clubs in the Bundesliga in August. The only club of the fourth level still remaining in the competition, SK Vorwärts Steyr , received the defending champion SK Sturm Graz at home . The Bundesliga club could only rarely play out the class difference and only won in extra time. Even the Kapfenberger SV had in the second round against the first division side FC Lustenau 07 into overtime, but then won with a 2: 0th SK Rapid Wien celebrated the clearest victory in the round of 16 against first division club TSV Hartberg with a 3-0. In the two matches without Bundesliga participation, First Vienna FC 1894 in extra time and SC Austria Lustenau on penalties were able to secure promotion to the quarter-finals.

Endgame
In the final of the ÖFB Cup 2010/11, Bundesliga club SV Ried met first division club SC Austria Lustenau . The final took place on May 29, 2011 in Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium . The winner is qualified for the third qualifying round for the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League .
The SV Ried won the game after 90 minutes with 2: 0 and is therefore cup winner.
For the Rieder it is the second participation in the final after winning the Cup in 1998. Austria Lustenau reached a cup final for the first time in club history and as the first club from Vorarlberg.
While Ried knocked out defending champion Sturm Graz (quarter-finals) as well as Bundesliga clubs Rapid (semi-finals) and LASK (last sixteen) on the way to the final , Lustenau defeated record cup winners Austria Wien (quarter-finals) and Kapfenberg (semi-finals).
With SV Ried and Austria Lustenau, two teams face each other for the first time in the history of the ÖFB Cup, at least one of which does not come from one of the five largest Austrian cities - Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg or Innsbruck.
