In addition, the fighting team celebrated three championship titles in a row from 1984 to 1986 and advanced through regional league West (1984/85) and Landesliga West (1985/86) to the Tyrolean League , the fourth highest Austrian level. There one could not hold on, however, and after only one season rose again from the Landesliga West. In the following decade, Union Innsbruck moved mostly in the middle of this league.

K11995/96: Introduction of the three-point rule .
|
In 1995, however, the team separated only two points from relegation and the following two seasons were to be even worse: Despite the last place in 1995/96, they were allowed to keep the class, a year later the renewed last place meant relegation to the sixth-class regional league West.
After a season in midfield 1997/98 followed first the places three and two, and 2000/01 finally the superior championship title and promotion. The 2001/02 season ended the Union in 10th place, already in 2002/03 it landed only five points behind FC Zirl in second place and instead of the champions rose to the fourth-class telesystem Tirol League . There, however, the club suffered the same fate as in 1987 - the return descent. The seasons 2004/05 and 2005/06 ended the team fifth and fourth in the front field of the Landesliga West.

From the 2006/07 season to the 2009/10 season, FC Union Innsbruck formed a game association with SVG Reichenau . The first team of the SVG Reichenau / Union Innsbruck , which played in the third-class Regionalliga West in those years , competed in the red-white-black jerseys of the SVG Reichenau and called the sports field there home. The second team, which started in the fifth-class Landesliga West in 2006/07, wore the blue club colors of FC Union and played its home games at the Fennerkaserne sports field.
Similar to the 1980s, the time of the syndicate brought great success for the Union this time too. Already in the first year they managed to get promoted to the telesystem Tirol League with a heartbeat final: After the team had made up an 11-point deficit from autumn, on the last day of the match there was a direct duel with the same-point aspirant SV Raika Längenfeld . Due to the eight goal difference, Längenfeld would have been enough to draw, but the Innsbruck team won the game 3-0 in front of their own audience. In the following two seasons, the SPG Reichenau / Union Innsbruck 1b finished 8th and 4th, before being crowned champion of the league , which has now been renamed the UPC Tirol League , on the very last game day of 2009/10 .
The first team also made it to the finals of the Tyrolean Cup this year. There, on June 9, 2010, the Innsbruck team were able to equalize a 2-0 draw against FC Kufstein in a dramatic finish, but were ultimately defeated on penalties.
At the beginning of the spring championships in March 2010, the paradoxical situation had already arisen that the second team in the syndicate (the Union) was about to be promoted to the Regionalliga West, while the first team (the Reichenau) was threatened with relegation from this league . For this reason, those responsible decided to dissolve the syndicate at the end of the 2009/10 season.

Since the first team fixed relegation and the second team the promotion, the two teams went as equal competitors in the regional league season 2010/11 . There, however, only the former second team, the Union, could hold on as 13th, while Reichenau was relegated as penultimate. In the following season 2011/12 , Union Innsbruck took 14th place and again secured relegation from a sporting point of view, but the club management had decided to voluntarily withdraw from the regional league for economic reasons. Since at the same time the SVG Reichenau waived the renewed promotion to the regional league despite the state league title, the two clubs were one league lower than opponents two years later. Away from the championship operation, FC Union Innsbruck made it into the quarter-finals of the Kerschdorfer Tirol Cup in 2010/11 and made it into the second round of the ÖFB Cup in 2011/12 through victories against regional league rivals SC Rheindorf Altach II and state league club SV Grieskirchen , where they lost however, last year's finalist SC Austria Lustenau with 0: 7.
Stadion
FC Union Innsbruck plays its home games at the Fennerkaserne sports field in Innsbruck city center. Due to the emerging rise, it was expanded in the spring of 2010 into a small jewelery box suitable for regional leagues (according to chairman Hermann Lener). Since the city of Innsbruck and the state of Tyrol decided to build a new building for the adjacent Management Center Innsbruck in February 2012 , the sports field is to be moved to the north and rotated by 90 degrees. In addition, instead of the container of the "jewelry box", a fixed grandstand with cabins and canteen is planned, which means that the association "finally expects a 'real' home".
