Thomas Einwaller (born April 25, 1977 in Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser ) is an Austrian football referee .

Since 2001 he has been leading matches in the Austrian Bundesliga and the Swiss Axpo Super League . In 2005 he became an international FIFA referee and as such has played in the UEFA Champions League , the UEFA Europa League and the 2008 Olympic Games , as well as in qualifying for the 2008 European Football Championship and the 2010 World Cup . A highlight of his career was the bronze medal game in Beijing at the 2008 Olympic Games between Belgium and Brazil . He lives in Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser and is a full-time bank employee. Einwaller is currently employed as a referee observer in the Bundesliga. He has two children with his wife Monika Einwaller , an Austrian sports shooter.
