The SV Seekirchen 1945 is a football club from the municipality of Seekirchen am Wallersee in the province of Salzburg in Austria . The club currently plays in the third- tier Regionalliga West .
history
The sports club was founded in 1945 as Union Seekirchen by chairman Rupert Moser, section head Franz Retz and Vinzenz Wallner, the brothers Friedl and Lorenz Pommer and currently plays in the third-highest division in Austrian football, the Regionalliga West . The club colors were defined as red and white when it was founded.
The entry into the championship took place in the autumn of 1946. Due to the post-war turmoil, the game had to be stopped at short notice during the 1949/50 season, but after the game was resumed in 1951, the first youth team was set up.
SV Seekirchen recorded its first success in 1945 when it won the championship title of 1st Class North in the 1960/61 season. In the 1970s and 1980s, the club shuttled between the 1st regional league and the 2nd regional northern league, before it was finally able to establish itself in the upper leagues of the state with the renewed promotion to the 1st regional league in 1993. With the championship title of the regional league in 1997, the SVS rose to the Regionalliga West for the first time in 1945 . After the club from Flachgau was relegated from the league in the first year, the Seekirchen team celebrated their promotion to the third highest division in the following season. After relegation, SV Seekirchen spent the 2000/01 season back in the regional league, which they won again in 2002. In the years from 2003 to 2006, the Seekirchener were able to establish themselves in the lower third of the table of the Regionalliga West, but had nothing to do with the relegation. In the 2008/09 season, the Flachgau team secured their stay in the Regionalliga West on the third last match day.
In the 1990s the club produced several young players who later played or still play in the Austrian and German Bundesliga . Seekirchen's Robert and Andreas Ibertsberger and Thomas Winklhofer made it into the Austrian national team . Winklhofer was also part of the SV Austria Salzburg team , which made it into the UEFA Cup final in 1994 .
