Miran Burgić (born September 25, 1984 in Trbovlje , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian football player . The striker , who became the top scorer of the Slovenska Nogometna Liga in 2006 , made his debut for the Slovenian national team that same year .

Career

Career start in Slovenia

Burgić started playing football at NK Zagorje at the age of six . As a result, he went through the various youth teams of the club. After he had noticed those responsible for the first division club ND Gorica , he moved to the youth department of the club from Nova Gorica . In western Slovenia, he recommended himself for the junior team of the Slovenian Football Association .

In 2003 Burgić made his debut under coach Pinni Pavel in the Slovenian first division. Initially only a substitute, he established himself in the squad in the 2003/04 season and contributed to winning the championship title for the first time in 17 league games alongside Mladen Kovačevič , Matej Mavrič and Jani Šturm . If he had not scored a goal to date, he scored his first six goals in the championship in the following season. He was behind Saša Ranič , Aleksandar Rodič and Valter Birsa the fourth best goalscorer of the club and thus helped the team to repeat the previous year's successes . Winning the double was only just missed, in the cup final, audience Celje prevailed with a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Wladislaw Lungu .

In the 2005/06 season Burgić had finally established himself as a regular in the team of ND Gorica. As a "long runner" he played all 36 games of the season. He and Birsa formed the powerful storm duo of the team, which made the title hat trick with a 2 point lead over NK Domžale . While his strike partner, together with Oskar Drobne, finished second on the scorers list with 18 goals this season, Burgić crowned himself the top scorer of the league with 24 goals this season.

Change abroad

Burgić had made a name for himself outside the country's borders because of his dangerousness. In the summer of 2006, the Swedish first division club AIK signed the Slovenian, who signed a three-year contract with the club from Solna . Under coach Rikard Norling , however, after his debut as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against IFK Göteborg on July 31 of that year, when he replaced Wilton Figueiredo in the 69th minute, initially between the starting eleven and the bench. Nevertheless, national coach Branko Oblak took him into account in October in the international match against Luxembourg as part of qualifying for the 2008 European Championship . In the 85th minute he replaced Klemen Lavrič when the score was 2-0, making his national team debut . As a result, he also established himself as a regular player at his club and ensured with five goals by the end of the season for reaching the European Cup as runner-up behind IF Elfsborg .

After Burgić had played briefly in the regular formation at the beginning of the 2007 season , he soon took turns with Bernt Hulsker , Daniel Mendes and Wilton Figueiredo as the striker in the initial formation. On May 12, he had to leave the field early after a knee injury in the game at IF Brommapojkarna . The injury turned out to be a cruciate ligament tear , so that he was out for a long time. In March 2008 he returned to the football field as part of the training camp in preparation for the following season. In the 3-0 defeat by IF Elfsborg in early April, he celebrated his comeback in the Allsvenskan . Again, he was only able to play in the main lineup at times. Although he came to 24 missions during the season, he was only on the field in 13 games at the start of the game. Still, he scored five goals over the course of the season.

In preparation for the 2009 season, Burgić injured his knee again in February. After he was able to train again from the end of April, he came on May 5 in the game against Trelleborgs FF on the side of Mauro Iván Óbolo to his first game of the season. No sooner had he recovered from his meniscus damage than he injured his knee again the following week and had to take several weeks off again. From September he came back as a substitute under coach Mikael Stahre , but remained without a goal when he won the tenth championship title in the club's history. In the 2-0 success with goals from Óbolo and Antônio Flávio in the cup final against IFK Gothenburg, he was on the bench.

Burgić was initially only one of the supplementary players in the spring of 2010. In the Supercup match against IFK Göteborg, he came on as a substitute for the goalscorer to make Flávio 1-0. After the club had scored just one goal in their first four games of the season, they made their debut in the starting line-up on matchday five. On the seventh matchday he scored his first goal of the season in a 3-0 away win at Kalmar FF with the goal to make it 1-0, and as a result he established himself in the starting line-up.

Although Burgić was in the national team for the last time in November 2008, national coach Matjaž Kek nominated the striker in early May in the preliminary roster of 30 players for the 2010 World Cup . On May 21, however, he was among the first four candidates for removal and was not considered in the final squad.

In the summer of 2010 he moved to the newly promoted Bundesliga in Austria FC Wacker Innsbruck . His contract, which ended in June 2012, was not renewed. After stints in Israel with Hapoel Ramat Gan , where he celebrated the cup victory, and in Cyprus with Ethnikos Achnas , he returned to his home country in 2014.

In the 2014/15 season, Burgić Olimpija Ljubljana joined and returned a year later to his youth club ND Gorica .
