Nogometni Klub Domžale is a Slovenian football club from Domžale .
history
The club was founded in 1921 under the name DISK Domzale and renamed NK Domžale in 1935.
After the dissolution of Yugoslavia in 1991, the club was one of the 21 founding members of the first Slovenian league and was relegated at the end of the season as ninth in the table. Then you played for years in the second division, only at the end of the 1997/98 season you qualified as third for the relegation games against Set Vevce Ljubljana , which you won and rose to the first division. The following season the club finished eighth, 1999/2000 ninth. Also in 2001 they escaped relegation as tenth, but ended the 2001/02 season as bottom of the table and rose. There you became a master straight away and returned to first class.
With five points behind a relegation zone NK Domžale ended his first season after returning. In 2004/05 they qualified for the championship finals in fifth place and ended up surprisingly runner-up behind ND Gorica . Also in 2005/06 the runner-up succeeded after they had delivered a tough duel with ND Gorica and in the end two points were missing. Internationally, they made it to the first preliminary round of the UEFA Cup in the 2005/06 season , which they failed at VfB Stuttgart .
In the 2006/07 season, the club was Slovenian champions for the first time and he defended the title in the following season. Three years later, the club won the national cup competition for the first time . In 2017 the Slovenian Cup was won again, in the league they finished fourth in the table.
