NK Rudar Velenje is a Slovenian football club from the city of Velenje . The club was founded in 1948 and was a founding member of the Slovenska Nogometna League . The best placement so far was 3rd place. From 2003-2005 and 2006 the club was second class.
Rudar Velenje currently plays in the first Slovenian football league . The club's greatest success at national level was winning the Slovenian Cup in the 1997/98 season .
