NK Aluminij is a Slovenian football club from Kidričevo . The club currently plays in the first-class Slovenska Nogometna League .
history
The NK Aluminij was founded in 1946 right after the end of the Second World War . In the late sixties, the club played briefly in the second Yugoslav division after securing the championship title of the third division in the 1965/66 season.
After the dissolution of Yugoslavia in 1991, the club initially only played in the third Slovenian league. In 1997, however, the championship made it into the second division . The following years turned out to be quite positive for the NK Aluminij and almost exclusively places in the upper third of the table were reached in the league. Between 2001 and 2003 they came third three times in a row, but repeatedly missed the leap into the top division .
During this time, the greatest success in the club's history was achieved when they reached the 2002 cup final. There you had to NK Aluminij but ND Gorica beaten.
Despite these successes, it took another eight years until the NK Aluminij secured the championship title for the first time in the 2010/11 season. However, the promotion to the first division did not follow, as the club refused due to financial difficulties. A year later, they won the championship again and this time also agreed with the club to the rise, so the NK Aluminij in the 2012/13 season for the first time in the premier league compete. However, the immediate relegation followed after the club ended up in last place at the end of the season. In the 2015/16 season you could return to the first division.
