Carl Luckow

Carl Luckow (born March 12, 1828 in Rostock ; † May 15, 1885 Ilten ) was a German architect and Mecklenburg construction clerk .

Life

From 1846 Carl Luckow studied philosophy at the University of Rostock . From 1848 to 1851 he studied architecture at the building school of the Polytechnic School in Karlsruhe , where he became a member of the Germania fraternity (now Teutonia ). In 1852 he passed the first state examination as an architect in Schwerin. Luckow began his career as an assistant in the construction of the Schwerin Palace .

In 1872 he was a construction Kondukteur seconded to provide assistance during the state buildings and assisted with Adolf Prahst the Rostock architects and Mecklenburg court architect Hermann Willebrand the construction of the main building of the University of Rostock, what his portrait medallion commemorates the courtyard façade of the building.

In 1877, the master builder Carl Luckow was commissioned with the renovation work for the establishment of the district court in the Fürstenhof zu Wismar . He was supported by Gustav Hamann as site manager . After the construction work was completed, Carl Luckow was awarded the Gold Medal of Merit by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in 1880.

In 1880 he was appointed master builder.

Since 1865 he was a member of the Association for Mecklenburg History and Archeology ; he made several drawings of antiquities for publications in the Mecklenburgische Jahrbucher .
