Gordon Schildenfeld (born March 18, 1985 in Šibenik , SR Croatia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian football player on the position of a defender .

Schildenfeld began his youth career at HNK Šibenik . At 16 he made the leap into the first team and played his first game against NK Kamen Ingrad Velika .

After that, Schildenfeld was rarely used. In the winter break of the 2006/07 season he moved to Dinamo Zagreb and after a year to Beşiktaş Istanbul , from where he was awarded to the German second division club MSV Duisburg in the summer of 2008 . In summer 2009 it was awarded again, this time to the Austrian Bundesliga club SK Sturm Graz . After a season in Graz, Sturm signed the central defender for a transfer fee of around 400,000 euros; he signed a three-year contract. It was agreed between the clubs that Schildenfelds Beşiktaş would receive 20 percent of the transfer fee if they were resold. At the end of the 2010/11 season , the Croatian became Austrian football champions with Sturm Graz.

During the summer break of 2011 , Schildenfeld moved back to Germany to Eintracht Frankfurt . He signed a three-year contract. After promotion from the second Bundesliga and a convincing European Championship , he left Eintracht for Russia and joined Dynamo Moscow for the 2012/13 season . The following January , Schildenfeld and his new employer agreed on a loan to the Greek first division club PAOK Saloniki until the end of the season .

National team

In 2006 he came to a use in the Croatian U-21 national team ; three years later, on November 14, 2009, he made his debut for the Croatian national team when he came on for Darijo Srna in the 58th minute in the 5-0 win against Liechtenstein .

At the EM 2012 he completed all games over the full distance due to the injury-related cancellation of Dejan Lovren .

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Croatian squad . Both in the first game against Turkey and then against the Czech Republic, he was only brought on in the 90th minute. It remained his only two European Championship appearances, the team was eliminated in the second round.
