The SC Retz is an Austrian football club from Retz in Lower Austria . The club, founded in 1921, merged in 1956 with the clubs ATSV Retz and Union Retz to form today's SC Retz.
history
Before the merger
The SC Retz was founded in 1921 in the town of the same name, Retz . There were two Retz teams, the ATSV Retz , which could win 3 championship titles, and the Union Retz , which could only win 1 championship title. These two clubs existed until the merger on July 31, 1956. The new club name SC Retz was also decided.
From July 31, 1956 to the present day
The sports club became champions in the Pulkautal district group in the 1962/63 season . In 1968 the sports club was again champion in 1st class Northwest . The club did not last long in the higher league, and so they were relegated again, but in 1988 they were again promoted to the lower league north-northwest . Driven by this, they made it to the Oberliga West in the season after next . Again in 2 years you became champion again and so you got into the 2. Landesliga West . In the following season the sensation was achieved, namely the direct promotion from the 2nd regional league West to the 1st NÖN regional league .
18 years later, in the 2011/12 season, the club achieved the greatest success in the club's history with promotion to the third highest league in Austria, the Regionalliga Ost .
In the history of SC Retz, a total of 10 chairmen headed the club. The longest-serving chairman is Cyrill Blei, who is currently still chairman of SC Retz. He headed the sports club in 1974, and again from 1999 until today.
