In addition to a professional league , which was held for the first time in 1911, a provincial championship for Lower Austria was also held for the first time in the 1913/14 season, in which teams from the capital Vienna were not eligible. The clubs played in the provincial groups South and North, with the respective winners playing the final for the title. The clubs SC Germania Schwechat , VfB Mödling , ASK Liesing , Badener AC and 1. Wiener Neustädter SC played in the southern provincial group . The Northern Provincial Group won Stockerauer SV 07 . Other participants were 1. Korneuburger SV and Klosterneuburger SV .

SC Germania Schwechat and Stockerauer SV 07 qualified for the final . SC Germania retained the upper hand with a 7-0 win in Schwechat and a 2-2 win in Stockerau and celebrated their first success by winning the provincial championship.

In the following seasons, initially due to the war, no championship was held. For the years up to 1920 either no provincial championship could be held or the championships were canceled. It was not until 1921 with the champions SV Stockerau 07 and 1922 with SV Korneuburg 1902 that the game could be fully played. It should be noted that these provincial championships are not recognized as official state championships until 1922 and that the champions of the 1st Viennese class - and thus the football champions of Austria - are also considered to be regional champions of Lower Austria until the separation of Vienna from Lower Austria.

With the annexation of Austria to the German Empire, an all-Austrian "Gau" league was introduced in what is now Ostmark . The Lower Austrian teams therefore had the chance to move up to the highest East Brandenburg league, at least in some seasons.

Only limited information is available today about the championships in the district league. In the final for the title of 1940, WSV BU Neunkirchen and Stockerauer SV 07 faced each other. The final was held on May 1st, 1940 in the Alpine Stadium of SC Ortmann in Neusiedl near Pernitz . The exact result is no longer known.

After the end of the Second World War, the clubs that took part in the Austrian championship were again limited to Vienna for a short time, so that three more seasons of Lower Austrian state championships were played. From 1948, the Lower Austrian championship took over the function of a, for the time being, second-rate regional league, which enables promotion to the state league A, also through relegation games. During this time the 1. Wiener Neustädter SC, once SC Harland, SV Mödling and SV Gloggnitz won the championship title twice.
