A regional league was held in Salzburg as early as the 1970s and 1980s, and another attempt was made in the 1994/95 season: the participants were divided into two groups with three clubs each. The two best in each group played for the final, which USV Leopoldskron-Moos won. A year later, seven clubs, ESV-ASKÖ Saalfelden-Harham, DFC Anthering, USV Leopoldskron-Moos, USC Mariapfarr-Weißpriach, USV Ebenau, DSK Hallein and USV 1960 Berndorf, held the women's league. Until 2000 ESV-ASKÖ Saalfelden-Harham, USV Leopoldskron-Moos and the PSV Salzburg and SC Schwarz-Weiß Salzburg championships were champions. From 2000 there was no championship at the regional league level in Salzburg, instead the better clubs, such as USK Hof, Lieferinger SV and ASK Salzburg, played in the newly founded 2nd Division Middle.
