The eight teams first played twice in 14 rounds against each other. After that, the league was divided into two groups: The first to fourth-placed clubs fought in a further six rounds (each against each other twice) for the championship title. The fifth to eighth-placed teams played in an additional six rounds (each against each other twice) for relegation to the 2nd division. The goals scored and received as well as half of the points (rounded down) from the regular season were taken over into the play-offs. A win was rewarded with three points, a draw with one point.

Season course

As in the previous year, the league consisted of eight teams. Instead of the relegated SC Brunn am Gebirge this year, after two years, First Vienna FC 1894 was represented in the top performance class. Instead of the DFC Ostbahn XI , the ESV Süd-Ost took part this year . this season the mode was introduced similar to that in the championship of 1993/94 . Union Kleinmünchen became champions in the top division , winning their sixth title in seven seasons. SC Neunkirchen and First Vienna FC 1894 had to relegate on a voluntary basis .
