The Austrian women's soccer championship was held in 2004/05 for the 33rd time after the 35-year break between 1938 and 1972. The top division is the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga and was held for the third time. The second highest division , this season the 26th edition, was divided into four regional leagues, with the 2nd division middle for the 5th time, the 2nd division east for the 11th time, the regional league west for the 11th time and the national league Styria was held for the 6th time.
SV Neulengbach became Austrian soccer champion for the third time in a row . The champions of the second highest division were LASK Ladies (middle), SV Gloggnitz (east), FC Koblach (west) and SC St. Ruprecht / Raab (Landesliga Styria). In the relegation games SV Gloggnitz was able to prevail and was thus entitled to play in the ÖFB women's league in the 2005/06 season .

As part of the championship competition, each team played twice against each participating opposing team (round-trip round). The right to the home results from the draw.
Season course
The women's Bundesliga was played with 10 clubs, with each team meeting each opponent once in the autumn and spring rounds. SV Neulengbach won the Austrian championship title for the third time in a row and this season won the ÖFB Cup with a final victory over the Innsbruck AC. With the championship title, the Lower Austrians also qualified for the UEFA Women's Cup for the 2005/06 season . The question of relegation was only decided in the very last round to the detriment of the 1st DFC Leoben, who played in the 2nd Division South (Landesliga Styria) in the following season.

Second performance level
In order to reduce the costs for the clubs, this is played out in three regional groups: 2nd Division Middle, 2nd Division East, Landesliga Styria and Regionalliga West.
The second performance level consisted of four leagues, separated by region:
- 2nd division center with the clubs from Upper Austria ( OFV ) and Salzburg ( SFV ),
- 2nd Division East with the clubs from Lower Austria ( NÖFV ) and Vienna ( WFV ),
- Landesliga Steiermark with the clubs from Burgenland ( BFV ), Carinthia ( KFV ) and Styria ( StFV ) and
- Regionalliga West with the clubs from Tyrol ( TFV ) and Vorarlberg ( VFV ).
The general mode provides that the champions of the leagues could play for the first time in a relegation for promotion to the ÖFB women's league. The bottom of the table in each league was relegated.
2nd division middle
mode
The 2nd division center was formed from 6 clubs from the regional associations of Salzburg and Upper Austria . The master played in relegation games against the master of the 2nd Division East for promotion to the Bundesliga, known as the ÖFB women's league from the following season.
Season course
The LASK Ladies qualified with the championship title for the relegation games to the ÖFB women's league, but failed because of the champions of the 2nd division east, SV Gloggnitz. The women's team of LASK Linz was only founded last year, when the women of the Ladies Soccer Club Linz switched to LASK.

During the current season, the women's soccer team of the financially troubled ASK Salzburg was transferred to the subsidiary Arbeiter Sportklub Maxglan , which was founded in 2005 .
2nd Division East

The 2nd Division East is made up of 10 clubs from the regional associations of Vienna and Lower Austria . The master played in relegation games against the master of the 2nd division center for promotion to the Bundesliga, which was renamed the ÖFB women's league from the following season.
Season course
The Lower Austrian club SV Gloggnitz brought its men's team into the state league in the 1950s and has now managed to become first-class with the women's team.

The Landesliga Styria was played with seven clubs and was determined in two rounds and one second round in 18 games for each club of the champions.

The league was made up of a total of seven clubs. Champion of the Styrian regional league was 1. DFC Leoben , who played in the women's Bundesliga next season.

The league consisted of six clubs that played a round trip against each other. The champions of the Regionalliga West were determined in 10 rounds.

The Regionalliga West began on September 18, 2004 and ended on June 11, 2005 with the 10th round. The champions were FC Koblach , who did not want to advance to the top division.

Relegation
Relegation to the ÖFB women's league
The champions of the two 2nd divisions East and Middle played a promoted player in the ÖFB women's league in two relegation games. The SV Gloggnitz in Lower Austria won against LASK Ladies from Upper Austria with a total score of 7: 3 and plays in the 2005/06 season in the highest Austrian women's football league. The LASK Ladies remain second class and continue to play in the 2nd division middle.
