The Austrian women's soccer championship was held for the 31st time in 2002/03 after the 35-year break between 1938 and 1972. The top division is the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga and was held for the first time. The second highest division , the 24th edition this season, was divided into four regional leagues, with the 2nd division middle for the 3rd time, the 2nd division east for the 9th time, the regional league west for the 9th time and the national league Styria was held for the 4th time.

SV Neulengbach became Austrian soccer champions for the first time . The champions of the second highest division were SV Spittal / Drau (center), FC Südburgenland (east), FC Koblach (west) and ASV St. Margarethen / Lavanttal (Landesliga Styria).

As part of the championship competition, each team played twice against each participating opposing team (round-trip round). The right to the home results from the draw.

Season course

The women's Bundesliga was again organized directly by the ÖFB . The Lower Austrian club SV Neulengbach became champions for the first time in the club's history. The champions of the previous year secured the runner-up title with the Innsbruck AC. For SV Neulengbach it was the most successful season ever since the Lower Austrians won the cup (5: 0 against Kleinmünchen) and the Supercup (5: 1 against Kleinmünchen) in addition to the championship. In addition, the Neulengbachers qualified for the UEFA Women's Cup for the first time . In this competition, they were able to win the qualifying tournament in Macedonia in the same year and finally took third place in the main round of the UEFA Women's Cup tournament in Bilbao.

The 1. DFC Leoben and 1. SVg Guntramsdorf had to relegate this season , where the team from SC Brunn am Gebirge moved there and was allowed to compete in the following season by passing on the license. The champions FC Südburgenland rose from the 2nd Division East . New for the next season was ASV St. Margarethen / Lavanttal , which was promoted from the Styrian regional league.

    In order to reduce the costs for the clubs, this is played out in four regional groups: 2nd Division Middle, 2nd Division East, Landesliga Styria and Regionalliga West.

    The second performance level consisted of two leagues, separated by region:

    • 2nd division center with the clubs from Upper Austria ( OFV ), Salzburg ( SFV ),
    • 2nd Division East with the clubs from Burgenland ( BFV ), Lower Austria ( NÖFV ) and Vienna ( WFV ),
    • Landesliga Steiermark ( StFV ), including clubs from Carinthia ( KFV ) and
    • Regionalliga West with clubs from Tyrol ( TFV ) and Vorarlberg ( VFV ).

    2nd division middle

    The league consisted of eight clubs that played a round trip against each other. The champions of the 2nd division center were determined in 14 rounds.

    Season course

    The amateur team from Union Kleinmünchen was taken over by LASK Linz and plays under the name Ladies Soccer Club Linz . The master, SV Spittal / Drau waived his right to promotion.

    Season course

    After several of the then eight participants withdrew from the league last year, there were several newcomers with ASK Erlaa , SG ASV Spratzern / SC Stattersdorf and the second team from SC Damen Dörfl and USC Landhaus . The SC Pinkafeld was renamed FC Südburgenland . The champions were FC Südburgenland, which immediately qualified for the Bundesliga as a newcomer.

    Regional League Styria

    Six clubs took part in the Styrian regional league, which determined the champions in two rounds, in a total of 20 rounds.

    Season course

    The league was made up of a total of six clubs. ASV St. Margarethen / Lavanttal , who played in the women's Bundesliga next season , became champions of the Styrian regional league, in which the participation of clubs from Carinthia is granted .

    The league consisted of seven clubs that played a round trip against each other. The champions of the Regionalliga West were determined in 12 games for each club.

    Season course

    The Regionalliga West started on August 31, 2002 and ended on May 31, 2003 with the 14th round. The champions were FC Koblach , who did not want to advance to the top division. SC Austria Lustenau was relegated.
