The section was founded in 1991. The Innsbruck women played in the Tyrolean championship for the first time in 1992/93 and immediately became champions of the Tyrolean women's league. In addition, the Innsbruck team took part in the ÖFB Cup for the first time in 1992. In the 1993/94 season, the title in the Tyrolean League was successfully defended and the club decided to move up to the Western League. The team also celebrated their first major success in 1994 when they won the ÖFB Women's Cup as only the second Tyrolean women's soccer club after FC Wacker Innsbruck , which won the title in 1985. In the final, the then second-rate Tyrolean women defeated the traditional Austrian club and record champions, USC Landhaus Wien, after a 1-1 draw on penalties 3-2.

The club was also in the cup final in 1996, but lost the final against Union Kleinmünchen 2-0. In 1995 and 1997, the championship title was won in the Regionalliga West and the club decided to make use of the promotion rights to the women's Bundesliga.

Since the 1997/98 season Innsbruck AC has been playing in the Austrian women's soccer division. The club established itself immediately in the top division and was to be found in the top field year after year. In the 2001/02 season, the Tyrolean women celebrated their first Austrian championship title with just two points ahead of SV Neulengbach, who are on the rise . In the autumn season, the Innsbruck AC recorded only one defeat against the reigning champions USC Landhaus. After another defeat against the Viennese in spring, the title fight seemed to be limited to a duel between USC Landhaus and SV Neulengbach. With a 3-0 home win against Neulengbach , Innsbruck returned to the battle for the championship title and after winning the remaining games, Innsbruck's AC celebrated its greatest success to date. Within a short period of time, Innsbruck AC became the most successful women's soccer club in Western Austria, making Innsbruck only the fourth city of Austrian women's soccer champions after Vienna , Linz and Leoben . After the Supercup was introduced for women in 2001 , Innsbruck was allowed to play for this title for the first time because of the championship title in 2002. The game was clearly lost against USC Landhaus Wien 3: 6.

By winning the championship, the Tyrolean women also qualified for the UEFA Women's Cup in the 2002/03 season. The preliminary round matches were played in groups of four teams each. The Tyrolean women applied to host their group and were also accepted by UEFA . With CSK VVS Samara from Russia , FCL Kilmarnock from Scotland and Sociedade Uniao 1 ° de Dezembro from Portugal , the Innsbruck AC had too powerful opponents and had to admit defeat in all games.

Despite good games, the Innsbruck AC was unable to defend its championship title in the following season and took second place behind SV Neulengbach. In 2005, Innsbruck reached the cup final in the ÖFB Women's Cup again, but lost just 1: 2 against Neulengbach. As with the men, the game for the Supercup had to be canceled due to scheduling problems. Surprisingly, the club's board announced after the end of the 2005/06 season , in which fourth place had been occupied, the withdrawal from the top division. No reasons were officially announced for this.
