The Sociedade União 1º Dezembro is a football club from Sintra , Portugal .

history

The association was founded on December 1st, 1880 as the Sociedade Filarmónica União 1ºDezembro and had concentrated its activities on social activities such as dance, music and literary recitation for the first decades of its existence. Sports activities initially only played a subordinate role, until in 1935 the members of the football and table tennis communities were able to obtain the formation and financing of sports departments from the club's management, while the supporters of the Philharmonie left the club. On April 6, 1938, the soccer team was accepted into the Associação de Futebol de Lisboa (AFL) and thus joined the Portuguese Football Association.

The men's team was promoted to the third Portuguese league in 2011, the then IIª Divisão and today's Campeonato de Portugal , in which they have since been represented in the Sul group.

1º Dezembro gained notoriety above all through its women's football team, which was set up in 1994 and won the national championship in women's football for the first time in 2000 and eleven times in a row from 2002 to 2012 , making it Portugal's record champions to this day. With seven association cups won , the women's team is also the record holder in this competition. In all eleven appearances in the UEFA Women's Champions League between 2002 and 2012, 1º December was eliminated after the qualifying round. After the last championship in 2012, the sporting collapse of the women's team began, which culminated in the sporting relegation from the top division after the 2013/14 season and the decision to dissolve the A-team.

The club plays its home games at Campo Conde de Sucena .
